Re: Homogenization of KC
One has to remember the trails were originally started in Independence. And even before that close to Franklin MO.

Yes, but it would also have a slab of the Titanic
That's down in Branson.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
I think this is going to be a nice hotel. It reminds me of something fancy in Vegas. I hope they plan to put colored flood lights on the outside. Vegas????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? It doesn't even come close. It's only 800 rooms. Need to be at least 4,000 roo...

Re: Homogenization of KC
Also, no matter what people in STL think, KC is the real gateway to the west. Kind of like Rivendell in LoTR, KC is the edge of civilization. west of here, there is nothing of note till Denver, and Denver, SLC, etc. are just bright spots of civilization in an otherwise wild landscape. We could do s...

Re: Church of the Resurrection Downtown Campus
Fang, looking at that land, the church must have gotten that land cheap. I would think that land value for a ready to build large site would be too high for a small church, but maybe they slipped in and grabbed it while it was cheap. It could be worse, the Star could have land-banked the parking lo...

Wondering. What are "the needs, wants and desires of the millennial generation renters"? Are they really that much different than previous generations of renters?

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd
I'd rather see Prospect be renamed - there's such a stigma with it (and Troost) being a dividing line, a name change would be a great opportunity to rebrand. And wasn't Prospect the epicenter of the '68 riots that happened around the time of King's murder? I really think Paseo makes the most sense ...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza
Convention services never sells BAP as an option for conventions to use....if it does they do a horrible job of selling it. Not sure about now but it was back in the day. The problems for convention use are many, one being trying to restrict access. Another being weather. The city has for decades t...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
It’s going to be terrible for traffic in Midtown and I don’t trust that ‘experts’ have it figured out. No left turns on all of Main will be a mess for residents. How is someone going south on Main supposed to get to their home in Hyde Park or going North get to a home west of Main? You’re creating ...

Re: Gondolas!
A gondola from the downtown to the West Bottoms has been a pipedream for a few since the 70's when the named Kemper Arena first opened. Probably will be another 40 or more years before one gets constructed. Expanding bus service provides more flexibility at a much lower cost.

Re: NAIA Tournament
The NBA use to have 7 or 8 rounds in its annual college draft. At the NAIA tournament one could usually see one, two, or even three players who would be drafted playing for one of the schools. So many people would take a week's worth of vacation to come and see the games. Of course many of the top s...

Interesting subject matter. Concerns NYC but this is a situation some of the board members have gone through in the past with moving from KC's core. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/realestate/comparing-suburbs-montclair-in-new-jersey-vs-dobbs-ferry-in-new-york/ar-BBJuuyk?li=BBnbfcN "Once you ha...

A few of the older apartment complexes in the neighborhood have already been refurbished and updated. And as the complex grows more of the nearby housing stock will also be refurbished and updated. It will take time, afterall look at the urban core of KC and the time it has taken till now and still ...

Re: Kc skyscraper drought about to max depression era droughttt.
Not sure how large you consider H&R Block but that would be the only large firm I can think of that has moved to downtown in the last 25 years. But that move was only from the fringe of the Plaza so for the city as a whole it wasn't that beneficial. Plus wasn't there plans for a second tower for...

Guess some have forgotten, or never learned to walk downtown streets when there is ice and/or snow. Gone are the days of buckled rubber boots or galoshes I guess. May not be stylish but they worked pretty good years ago.
