Re: OFFICIAL: Penn Valley Park (Ideas+redeveloment)

The city of Boston has at least three cemeteries in the heart of the city and I would imagine that land has more value tied to it than Union Cemetery.

Of course it would depend on the amount of the toll but many would probably avoid it in favor of an alternate route.

Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!

Just curious. Any one here think local KC owners would be willing to put up $500,000,000 for an expansion NHL team? The latest found on Wiki: "Kansas City sports investor Lamar Hunt Jr., whose father Lamar Sr. was an early investor in what became the Columbus Blue Jackets and whose family owns ...

The GOP will do nothing to get rid of Trump until he becomes a liability. That is in 2018 there becomes a time when the GOP's hold on the Senate and/or House is in jeopardy. And they won't get rid of him, as of now no impeachable offense and Amendment 25 has never been utilized. The current GOP offi...

It is not that cheap to move graves. Especially considering how many of the bodies are probably buried. It would be a nightmare.

Remember President Teddy's saying? Speak softly but carry a big stick. Trump sure doesn't remember it. Of course that assumes he even heard it in the first place. His tweets so far are directed to his base, not others. Of course now the talk is much of his tweet base are phony accounts.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I don't think people in KC are as much anti-rail as they are part of the "it does not benefit me, I'm not paying for it" crowd. Voters in the KCMO community have approved issues that benefited KC as a whole but not themselves. Look at past approvals for bus and transportation sales taxes....

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

In Cerner's case they are going after college grads who would more likely want to live downtown anyway. And downtown is getting schools and developing towards family living anyway, so many may not 'grow out of city living', as it this the case with professional leaning families in much larger citie...

Time magazine had an interesting article on the shopping center topic a few weeks ago about dying malls. The guy who envisioned the modern mall in the 50's thought of it as more of a community instead of just a place to shop.

It's been quite a few years ago but I knew of a few companies that had multiple employees flying the same time to a location, one location being Wal-Mart Land in Arkansas. They would catch a hired plane, guess a charter, from MKC and fly to their location on their time schedule and the plane would s...

Re: Is Reagan to blame for the downfall of St Louis?

The deregulation of the 1980's can go back to the 70's. It falls on both the Dems and the GOP. For example the trucking industry was deregulated in 1980 with Carter as president. And that could be said is causing the trouble with the Central States Pension Fund now for 100,000's of retirees.
