Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Staying at the K was never an option. The Royals will take a breath and see what their options are now - staying at the K will almost assuredly not be one of them. Very well could be in the long term a new stadium but in the short term playing at the K may be the only option outside of selling the ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I don’t have the authority to share the information. Not that it’s relevant but my own anecdotal experience is most people just wanted a better, more organized plan along with more information. The save the crossroads noise was loud for sure but not in the top 3 factors for why this failed. I also ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Not if the case is made about what the city stands to lose. If both teams leave KCMO, taxes will need to go up in order to cover the significant loss of tax revenue and it will need to go up far more than the 3/8th cent county tax that just failed. Make it about the truth, that this city and its co...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

"Remove the need for a public vote and this site still makes sense." "But only a small amount of people voted no because of the location or because they cared to save this area of the crossroads. Many things contributed to losing but same site, more information, better collaboration, ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Omg never fuck with trains. I worked in an office that dealt with right-of-way acquisitions and the agents dreaded getting ROW for construction projects by a railroad. It took months longer and more meetings than necessary to get the ROW from the railroad for a zoo project by the rail line going th...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

The voters will not approve a downtown location no matter what. First off there will have to be a huge, likely long term, sales job to change the mind of local residents about downtown itself. If there will be a downtown stadium the city/team owners will have to find another way to get it done. The ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Forget the voters. The Royals and local governments have to find a way to pull off a downtown stadium without a vote of the people. The Chiefs on the other hand can go to the voters without the tag along Royals and likely get approval for Arrowhead improvements.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

if/wherever new stadiums are built in/outside of the region, will it be with public money approved by the local voters or just the elected officials of the local jurisdictions? From an article I read the latest stadium/arenas are being built without a vote of the taxpayer. Done with private money a...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Fuck Frank White. Lying ass unintelligent fool who let his personal opinions steer his actions and pretended it was all for the people. The two year hold out and property tax disaster had a big part in this. You are giving White far too much credit. At first he was working on trying to get a deal f...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

They lost it in February (months after the site should have been locked down) when they chose EC. It was lost at the very first announcement when it was said the team was moving on from The K. The Royals thought they could ride on the coattails of the Chiefs with the belief the voters can't say no ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

In thinking about why the issue lost one reason could be much of the public wasn't given a valid, in their eyes, reason why The K had to be replaced. Both stadiums were in many ways similar but one could have its life extended for another 25 years or so while the other was a total mess just waiting ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Interesting results. Not surprised by the vote percentages but was definitely surprised by the large NO vote percentage in the KC portion of the county. It looks like some on here blame Frank White but I think his stance was more in alignment with the NO voters and maybe more of the YES side should ...

DColeKC wrote: Tue Apr 02, 2024 9:16 am I saw KCTenants were up to their lies last night. They were continuing to push the idea that this is a new tax.
If I remember correctly technically it is a new tax. If it passes the old tax is set aside and in its place is a new tax, for the same amount, that will expire in 40 years.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Whomever wrote this sounds like an idiot. There is a saying that goes something like this "A person's perspective is their reality." I don't think that makes them an idiot. If that is the case according to you there must be a bunch of idiots out there. They have their legitimate concerns ...

Comments by one who has long term ties to KC. "Subject: ROYALS OWNERSHIP TO KANSAS CITY: ''LET THEM EAT CAKE.'' Hello Mr. Helling, [Feb 13, 2024] I've read some of your articles on this subject and must lead off with the disclaimer that my work schedule is such that I could well have missed tha...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

As far as my thoughts on this passing. I'm not sure still. Honestly I get the same vibes as I got with the city proposed light rail plan. Everybody all along said it was very close 50/50 and I felt like it had a chance of passing, but it failed by quite a bit. I think this might get voted down by j...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

The old fire department has been gutted and converted into a residence. The only thing reminding us it’s a an old fire station are people on this forum and a sign on the exterior. Not hardly worth keeping as it’s history has already been stripped clean. It has been awhile since I have been downtown...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

It's exhausting. It really shows the lack of understand many people have about wealth in general. I wonder if they thought in everyday people terms if it would help. If I own a $500,000 dollar house and have a few paid off cars, I'm worth say $600k but does that mean I have 600k available to go bui...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Two items. I saw a few commenting that the proposed stadium would have the smallest seating capacity for MLB. First I heard of this. Second, early voting has been much higher than in past April elections. Of course no results of vote totals. Election officials are expecting a voter turnout of close ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

If the Royals were smart they would de-couple the K from their ask for a tax to support a downtown stadium plan. The "Save the K" crowd would instantly be mooted if there was no indication that the K was "Going away". The county preparing a demo RFP and the Royals indicating tha...
