In the 70's there was a Martin Luther King hospital in KC. Why not rename a hospital?

Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!

Sharing a MO NBA team could address NHL overlap at STL arena. And investors (edit: as well as larger fan base) from both markets could reduce risk. And could help build KC/STL relationships. For a few seasons the Kings had home games both in KC and Omaha. Not conductive at all for the team as a who...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

The BAP would be a lousy location for the Conservatory. And the way it is built now it is a lousy location for a park. Reason, the park should be more in line with the street grade on the three sides. Best solution? Blow up the garage, go deeper with a new garage and with the space above terrace the...

Re: Is Kansas City becoming an inverted city.

For the most part I would agree with your assessment. It has been awhile but the last time I looked at growth numbers for both jobs and residents the pace of growth was greater in the areas further out (10 miles) for a city's core, not just KCMO but for cities across the nation. So in that respect K...

Re: Politics

Of course Reagan said this about the Democratic Party but IMO Reagan was a Southern Democrat at heart. ""I'm still a Republican. I didn't leave the Republican Party. The Republican Party left me," Kasich said on CNN's "State of the Union." "In my state we have balanced ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

I like the idea of a Bass pro Shop downtown. Would make a good addition for visitors. I can't picture where a building that big would fit The Bass Pro shop itself in Branson is quite small and would work in a downtown retail location. The problem would be having an area to display and service boats...

Re: Politics

If you look at past politics from the 50's and 60's up to now there was always some partisanship and "win at all costs" attitudes during the elections but when it came time to legislation those in the middle usually came out the winners. Both parties had the left and right wings, the South...

I think this is going to be a nice hotel. It reminds me of something fancy in Vegas. I hope they plan to put colored flood lights on the outside. Re: Homogenization of KC

Also, no matter what people in STL think, KC is the real gateway to the west. Kind of like Rivendell in LoTR, KC is the edge of civilization. west of here, there is nothing of note till Denver, and Denver, SLC, etc. are just bright spots of civilization in an otherwise wild landscape. We could do s...

Re: Church of the Resurrection Downtown Campus

Fang, looking at that land, the church must have gotten that land cheap. I would think that land value for a ready to build large site would be too high for a small church, but maybe they slipped in and grabbed it while it was cheap. It could be worse, the Star could have land-banked the parking lo...
