Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I love that part....more just confidence in balancing....

Overall just feel more exposed on a scooter on the street with cars. Bike lane (haven't tried) I could see being very enjoyable....but until we get a real network of them....not really viable.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I don't entirely understand why these scooters are so psychologically different than bicycles. Is it just that bikes are larger and more visible? I can't imagine the threat of injury is that much greater than if you got hit on a bike. In a perfect world we'd have protected bike lanes everywhere or ...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I'm sure my tune will change the first time an idiot bonks into me with one....maybe just retired from the scooter game if I'm not ballsy enough to ride it in the same lane as a 2 ton death machine going 30 mph. My Segway comment was more from the PD perspective if they are truly coming out this str...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

No biggie....I'll see if I can find it.

Amazing segways have been buzzing around by mall cops for a decade downtown and not one peep

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Totally get that but overall it's not much of an exaggeration. Thinking of my daily commute or a walk to east Crossroads breweries....going to dinner somewhere....passing someone is an unexpected joy even today. Rick usher kind of echoed that though today on Twitter....saying our sidewalks are so un...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

With our narrow ass sidewalks and insistence on further eroding their useful walking space by planting trees, I don't see how having people blazing around them at running speed on powered wheeled vehicles could be anything other than a nuisance. I wouldn't feel safe riding one on the street with tr...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

austin has done that for bikes and hence scooters....they allow bikes/scooters on a majority of their sidewalks from what I read.

Is it a non-starter to think KCMO could allow these on the sidewalk? That's about the only place I feel safe riding them.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I think that maybe a good idea....my only concern with blocking off certain streets with ordinance like Austin did is having to go back and managing that list as downtown changes.

can you link to that map you mention...I can't find it.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

I mean it would suck no doubt....but you rent a second floor unit in a downtown neighborhood that has commercial space below.....got to factor that stuff in when you are looking at places.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Reading up on these in other cities, it seems to be a real mismash of sidewalk usage being legal. Austin it is as they fall under personal mobility assistive devices (segways too). They actually allow bikes on most downtown sidewalks (outside of like 6th Street). Other areas like SF it's not legal a...

Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)

Toured yesterday....overall place is great. The big suite on 7 wasn't that impressive except for the outdoor space. The regular rooms that were listed on the tour were all locked so didn't get to check out s room.

Loved the art....absolutely love that chandelier

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

People are already mad about this move saying they will no longer go to Pigwich/Local Pig because of the parking. Freestyle Poke is also having parking issues. I guess people are parking in the lot intended for the building but its only for restaurant patrons till 4pm, after 4 its for residents onl...

I hope someone had the forethought to save the old sign, and it's not in some salvage yard.
The old sign was up until like a month ago...I'm sure they saved it.
