Re: Lenexa CityCenter
Since I live out here, thought I'd give an update -- the Lenexa City Center project is basically a disaster at this point. Finally, the Lifetime Fitness is going to open after some major financial issue. There is also a way-too-expensive apartmenet complex in the "City Center North" port...

Re: Corbin Park (135th and Metcalf)
The developers have filed for bankruptcy in an effort to prevent foreclosure. Contractors were pressing for foreclosure so they could recoup some of the $20 million they are owed. Supposedly RED has some tenants interested, but nothing can go forward now that construction financing has been pulle...

Re: Leawood's Park Place development
I still think it stinks if B&N moves out of Town Center. It's a smaller location and a lot more homey than the massive stores like at Oak Park Mall. Also, it's not like 135th and Metcalf is right around the corner from 119th and Roe. Everytime I go in there -- not just holidays, but lunch tim...

Re: The Future of Crown Center
I do love Crown center as my wife and I go there for the American Heartland Theatre every couple months. I also remember it fondly from my youth as my folks would always take us down there the day after thanksgiving. It still has a unique charm, particularly in the atrium area where the shops are....

NW Corner of 101st and Woodland in Lenexa
There was a sign forever and now they seem to have dug up the whole plot and seem to be getting ready to build, which is great because the whole Falcon Valley/Falcon Ridge area is relatively underserved by restaurants, etc. (Price Chopper helped a lot) Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew exactly...

Re: Oak Park Mall renovation + tenants (ongoing)
Meh :? Could care less. Not like there are plenty of bookstores all over the Metro area and Amazon.com works really great too. I haven't been to Oak Park Mall in a very long time. Have no real reason to go out to that area. Just like I don't have any pressing needs to go to VW/Legends. As muc...

I do and find it quite useful. If you don't find it useful, move along.Tosspot wrote: No one cares about any of the non-news you post.

Re: McDonald's @ 95th & Mission Rd
I just got confirmation that this is true. Walgreen's is tearing down the small strip center to build a drive-thru prototype. I have not seen the drawings, but it is supposed to be decent (brick on all sides, no EIFS/stucco, and covered walks on 2 sides). Plan is approved. Tenants have been not...

And, sorry for getting this thread off track from the Casino discussion. Just was making a point about how they came to pass. Thanks.

Re: OFFICIAL: Proposed KCK Casino
I have no idea what this line of discussion has to do with KCK's Wyandotte County's casino, but Brownback is going to face a formidable competitor in the 2010 GOP primary for Governor from current Secretary of State Ron Thornberg. They'll beat each other up and Mark Parkinson will succeed Sebelius ...

phill kline is the new standard bearer for conservatism? discussion over. That wasn't my point -- my point was that Kline is the only conservative ever elected to a statewide STATE office in our state's history, not that Kline was that standard bearer. My point was that Kansas is not some bastion ...

Re: Will Sprint Arena (as seen in render.) be a KC icon?
I found the thread asking about the Sprint center and replied. I replied that I had problems with the comfort of the Sprint center and I think KC could have done better. CAll it "bitching" or whatever, but I do think it's an issue -- and so do a lot of folks who have sat around me at the...

Re: Will Sprint Arena (as seen in render.) be a KC icon?
I guess that's why we have this forum...so people can bitch about nothing. If it wasn't the seating bowl...what would you find next guys? Stairwell railings? The seating bowl isn't worth complaining about? Isn't that where fans spend the majority of the time? Listen, I've been to THIRTEEN basketb...

Re: OFFICIAL: Proposed KCK Casino
Kansas is a high tax state compared to Missouri. Does that mean Kansas is liberal? Kansas IS liberal compared to Missouri. There are very few country club RINO's in Missouri. In Missouri, Sarah Steelman is a mod -- in Kansas, she'd be a conservative. That's the difference. There are conservative...

Re: JOCO Triangle Sales Tax OKd for Nov Ballot
Headin' out soon to vote AGAINST the new jail. I'm usually prone to vote for taxes for investment in the community, but I don't like how they're misrepresenting this as "not a new tax", how it doesn't sunset, and the fact that it is a sales tax, the most regressive form of tax. Besides, i...

Too bad it sucks in the seating bowl.rxlexi wrote: agreed, Powercat. I feel like Sprint Center is among the most unique arenas in the country, at least from the exterior and concourse. It really is a beautiful facility, a big jeweled glass donut.

Re: Will Sprint Arena (as seen in render.) be a KC icon?
I personally think the Sprint Center is extremely overrated. It has some pizzaz on the outside and the concourses are decent, but outside of the QuikTrip (the best thing the place has going for it), the concessions are extremely overpriced and the food is average to poor. Once you get to the seati...
