Re: Charlotte St. Foundation to Build New Bldg. in Midtown

This is going to be WAY off the beaten oath and seen by no one. Lame choice, zero exposure . Most people living in the area will never even see it or know it's even there. I was in that neighborhood all the time and it took years before someone told me there was a community center back there in the ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

Why do people see Cerner as some magical unicorn that will put up some mythical and monumental tower downtown...?!? Because magical unicorns >>>>> 1) have local KC civic pride 2) now employ and plan rapid future growth in employment 3) have lucrative billion dollar govt contracts 4) have consistent...

Anyone else notice that they've covered up the letters on the rooftop sign so you can't read them? :)

Re: Keystone Innovation District

Isolated, island development doesn't work is one lesson. Totally agree and I've said that a million times. But this has some distinctions. 1) The city has poured and continues to pour millions into 18th & Vine, why waste it? 2) The ATA owns much of the land and has committed to changing 18th st...

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

There is far more to be said about building a signature 50+ floor tower downtown then just saying "but it will only fill one block." Signature towers put a downtown on the forefront to the local business community with a strong statement. They spur much more peripheral development than sma...

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

You don't understand the distinctions of the various districts within downtown and their historical names. The CBD has historically referred to the financial and retail epicenter of downtown along B altimore, Main, Walnut , and Grand . The local, state and fed Govts developed their buildings to the...

wrong, not technically. while it is inside the downtown loop and the greater "downtown."
it is distinct from the "financial district."
EV is in the "govt district" of downtown.

Re: Keystone Innovation District

IMO if this project and district has success this could be the biggest thing since the Crossroads' success. Troost has become a fantastic trophy for the city but this is really where the rubber hits the road. Establishing 18th Street as a successful residential, mixed use and cultural epicenter with...

Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park

A beautiful grand middle staircase with with several tiers , perhaps 4. The stair and tier designs would encourage people to climb to see what's next. Each "tier" would level off into covered resting/contemplation area large enough for 100+ people and could feature: Level 1) Art and kiosks...

(Almost) Anything on this site is better than the current situation, however I would hope for something more dense than a 5-7 story project. That would essentially be another City Club, Milhaus East Crossroads, Gallerie, 4400 Washington, Union at Berkely Riverfront, etc. type of project...a concret...

There is nothing wrong with the grass in front of the PAC. That's taking the KC inferiority complex to a whole new level. lol not liking a huge sprawling lawn in front of a downtown performing arts center is an 'inferiority complex?' is that how u attack people that disagree with something so objec...

Second, the view north of the lot sucks. Instead of looking over a valley towards crown center, Union Station and liberty memorial, you'd be looking at Bartle Hall's south end, its parking lot, the ballroom's front lawn, and a pretty poor angle on the skyline, of which some of the dominant features...

Coming out the north entrance of Kauffman Center the meeting/parking structure is massive. Almost like a hulking modern sibling of Municipal Auditorium. It really is too bad that Kaufman Center faces south not north. [/size] Agree and said this from the start. Would love to see those remarkable cur...
