Re: Three Light

Just funny cause you don't know who you're talking to, like the founder of this board and professional advocate of downtown is an empty nester who moved in last year. I welcome the comedy and your posts. The board has been quiet for the last year or so. So, I appreciate the discussion on a very imp...

Re: OFFICIAL - Hyatt Regency Convention Hotel

This seems like a very positive development, especially them investing equity. I'm guessing the rest of the financing remains the same, including catering?

Yep, and this says July 17th, so I might be a few days off on the opening. :)

Re: Three Light

Oh boy, the "it's better than nothing" argument. Yeah, I don't like this or the "your average person on the street doesn't care" argument. There's nothing wrong with trying to hold Cordish to some level of standard with buildings that are going to make up a significant change in...

City Gym opens July 21st. UPS looks like it's very close. No idea on the wine bar or anything else.

Re: Three Light

I think we should just go back to 1997 when the entire PnL area was surface parking lots, one haunted house, boarded up buildings with trees growing from the roof and the interior food courts were all packed....good times. Oh boy, the "it's better than nothing" argument. Yeah, I don't lik...

"Convenience" is rapidly becoming my least favorite word of 2017.

Re: P&L District: 14th & Walnut Site Proposal

The detection has gotten better, but the signs are often ignored. Pedestrians get to a signal with a green light but a red pedestrian and have just trained themselves to ignore. Which confuses the hell out of people that are just visiting, and can't be good for anyone. But neither is having to stand...

Re: P&L District: 14th & Walnut Site Proposal

I agree with all 4 way stops. I also agree with pretty much everything flyingember said. I've had a lot of problems with site lines blocked at intersections lately. It's hard to get too pissed at drivers because eventually they have to move up enough to make sure they're not heading straight on to i...

Re: P&L District: 14th & Walnut Site Proposal

No, four-ways DO NOT make them more dangerous for peds. Peds have 100% right of way at a stop sign. You can walk out at any time and a car must wait for you no matter what with or without a marked crosswalk. You're complaining about bad drivers, not the intersection design. Have you been downtown w...

Re: OFFICIAL - East9 (former Pickwick Plaza)

the wine bar buildout is still in progress. The gym is coming along nicely as well, and the ups spot looks like it's currently being used by the contractors. So I was wrong here for the record I think. I thought it was going into the corner retail slot on the North side, but there is a big sign up ...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

My memory is fading every day, but remember when we had to vote on the sprint center, and enterprise made a big fit, and the us vs. STL company line became a campaign thing? Or something like that. And the KC architects all came together. I think we can run a good campaign around something like that...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Someone smart really needs to write an explainer for what is going on here. I can't for the life of me figure out why this has been handled so poorly.

Is the tradeoff solely KC city bonds = cheaper vs. private = quicker?

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Was this studied during the original engineering and feasibility study? I mean in traffic street cars are largely despised for this very reason, well before KC started planning here. Take a wild guess why it became street running. If you guessed parking lot access, you guessed right. Yeah, I was go...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

I love how in the renderings, they just throw some random "KC BBQ" and Chiefs signage up. Anyway, I almost fell asleep reading that article, let alone watching the video.

Why is the city so bad at 1) talking like humans, and 2) creating a coherent story about why this is needed?
