Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Also, if phase 2 passes. Then the mainstreet corridor can outnumber brookside or eastside areas and get more expansions while not necessarily needing 50% of the vote in those areas since the existing area can vote to raise someone else's taxes while theirs would stay the same. Hmmm That seems dange...

Re: Old Federal Reserve (925 Grand)

DELTA QUAD HOLDINGS LLC 10459 PARK MEADOWS DR LONE TREE, CO 80124 Thanks. I guess I'm less sympathetic then, especially since I just watched rats run in and out of the building on my way home. Do they own the garage as well? At least the rats and pigeons seem happy. "The Old Federal Reserve - ...

Re: Old Federal Reserve (925 Grand)

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but who currently owns this building? Is there any way we could get in touch with some local gardening club and partner with the city and do something with these planters? I'd be willing to throw in some donations. Just a little color in the spring would at least ma...

Re: OFFICIAL - East9 (former Pickwick Plaza)

The new pickwick lights look really nice, and it looks like they're going to do landscaping soon. I took a look through the gym area the other day, and it's coming along. The skylights will look great. I'm pretty skeptical they're going to hit any of their (rumored) opening dates, but it looks great...

Re: Remodeling Town Pavillion

That Domino's does bicycle delivery to serve downtown. It's not the same as the xroads papa johns that does car delivery and has a place for the drivers to park. Speaking of Domino's bicycle delivery, one of their guys routinely rides around with headphones in and runs red lights. Just a few hours ...

I don't think there is anything binding in this area, and I think people are over thinking the hotel and height. I hope they start to reach out more and put a solid proposal together.

Re: New Broadway Bridge

I don't know if anyone knows this, but htf did we let this happen? We've gone from what seems to be no talk about this to complete panic/shut the bridge down for two years/fast track the north loop plan.

Someone fucked up? Who? This stuff drives me crazy.

Re: New Broadway Bridge

Wouldn't adding a toll push so much traffic off the bridge that the cost of the replacement bridge would no longer be worth it? I also think we should study putting that much money into sending the streetcar north of the river, how much traffic that would take off the bridges. Also, is replacement ...

Is that parking lot to the west of the KC Star owned by them? The lot just north of the cbe drives me crazy too.

That's a really good picture though, to whoever took it.

Somebody likes red cars.

Anyway, I think a little pedestrian shittery can be forgiven with projects like these, but yikes.

Re: Getting involved downtown

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. Super helpful. I went to the downtowners. Is there any reason this isn't done as an after work event? I am by no means criticizing them, because everything was great. But it seemed a bit on the pretentious side... And by no fault of their own! But a bunch of...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

We have a chance, but it's small. The one benefit we have is Sporting KC plus their training grounds, so that's a big plus. And Power and Light for fan zone. Mexico and Canada each get 10 games each, so that hurts a lot. I think we would have gotten 2022, but I think we're out here. Also, I think as...

Another tidbit from the downtowners, they seem to know it's a pedestrian nightmare at parts. He talked about doing art along that side during the presentation. I was going to ask for follow up, but he had to go to a council meeting.

you all do realize we're in the middle of the process, right? it's just too late to change the PDF map and risk confusing people even more with multiple versions. we're working on other tools to make the process easier that don't involve going back to the court. the web form -- which will eventuall...

There were some lights on in the tower when I walked by last night. Not sure if that's normal, or if the pigeons have learned how to use electricity.

Pickwick is looking very nice. Are the developers doing anything else downtown?

I mean we all know the solution, but we're still holding listening sessions. Let's put the damn thing on the ballot and start the campaign to convince people this is the right thing to do. Let's get Southwest, AA, and the business community involved. And if it fails, then let's look at the port auth...

It shouldn't be terribly hard to design this in google maps. If I have a free second towards the end of the weekend, I'll throw it together.
