Re: We need a new airport!!!

They need to reach financial close. That's for sure. I don't even know if they're still aiming for 30% design. But they need to close. After that they can blame shit on other people, but they're in charge of financing. We need a final agreement and financial close. How can you have a financial clos...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

Here's one pundit predicting KC will be a world cup site. Now if the USA can just get a team in the World Cup that year. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2018/06/2016-fifa-world-cup-host-cities-sites-finalists-stadiums-venues-prediction-bid-final Will probably an automatic bid for all three teams with the ...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Sorry, I was referring to the conversation above along with the quote. I was trying to say that this project was always going to slip and I don't see much edgemoor could have done. I haven't seen any evidence that this is their fault yet. I'm sure they'll sit and take the abuse because that's their ...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

What's done is done...this isn't a huge thing overall...it's just frustrating and is not s good look for the city who ultimately gets blamed by the citizens around the region. I don't think you're super wrong, but I still think you're wrong. Edgemoore had been trying to do this on a very aggressive...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

The KC takes forever to do anything is a trope I'm getting sick of too. Find me a city that isn't struggling with something right now. We have to deal with our city politics, yes, which can be frustrating. But we also have to deal with state and federal policies, along with the realities of the city...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

That's silly. We need temporary brt if we win. Rail to the stadium isn't sustainable at this time.

The best thing KC could do right now is rebrand a bus as an airport shuttle. Bright colors, AC, WIFI, few stops. TV on board announcing stops and terminals.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

As part of the Kansas City bid, it should make downtown the focus as the fan zone. It'll need to offer affordable, consistent transport to and from the stadium and the airport. It's very doable. They love KC for television and soccer infrastructure and hate it for transport. It's a very doable bid, ...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

Chicago is not going to host in 2026 and neither is Minneapolis. Wouldn't KC be the top Midwest location after those 2 cities? I don't understand why Florida gets picked for sporting events, nobody down there cares about sports. They can't even sell out playoff games, i think the Miami Hurrican out...

Thanks guys. And yeah, I've moved from Kansas City to Kansas City so only KCEB.

I assumed that was the solution, but wanted to make sure before I turned up like an idiot. I'll reply back with results in case anyone else goes through this mess.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

It would have to be an amazing equity offer that completely eschews federal funding and bests the 2023 opening date for me to support a fare on the extension(s). I guess my question is why not do debt instead of equity? Equity=Ownership. Debt=Borrow Money and eventually Pay it back. Uhh, yes. I kno...

They held a leasing event and I think everything was up that you see.

I should know this, but who owns that northern lot? I'd love to see it developed

Re: Clay Chastain coming back with light rail

A simple high quality bus service from downtown to KCI would suffice. We do need that - have it stop downtown and and Union Station. you mean the 229 bus that we have now? RideKC should just put up some billboards that inform people they can take the bus to the airport now, and see if people actual...

Re: Voter registration

I would double check with your local election board. If you moved within the KCMO part of Jackson County, you would contact the Kansas City election board (not the Jackson County election board). Otherwise, you'd contact the election board of Cass, Clay or Platte County if you live within the city ...

Voter registration

No politics here :D I moved within KC, and I'm having the hardest time getting this figured out. I did change of address or whatever with the election board, and they now have my correct address on file, but they continue to send me cards telling me to vote at my previous address which is not close ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Equity, not financing. Private equity is possible with both extensions. Interesting, I thought it was a misspeaking. :P I can see it north, but I struggle to see it south. If you do it as a DBOM -- design, build, operate and maintain -- with stable sources of revenue for 30 years, it's possible. Th...
