Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Just so I'm clear, you're saying block electric scooters from Main Street entirely? Including the street? Or just parking them? Yeah, I don't agree with that at all. Slippery slope. Bikes would be next, I guarantee it. I think the combination of streetcar + cars + pedestrians makes it too dangerous...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

My first annoyance today with them. Four guys riding down main in a row on the sidewalk on what was a pretty busy afternoon downtown. I don't think I like that. It's going to take awhile to get etiquette a and rules figured out. I can only imagine the stories drivers have when that happen on the ro...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

Don't forget the LA Stadium will be open by then. It can have a temporary capacity of up to 100k people. Got to think it will be the front-runner for the final. New LA Stadium was not a part of the bid & can't be added at this point unless they replaced the Rose Bowl with it. The final will be at t...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

It's actually really interesting to watch them move around. I don't have any near me in the CBD right now. If they're happy with the launch, I hope they'll drop some more. First player advantage :)

Re: OFFICIAL - Commerce Tower

I'm still out of town. Any significant changes? It actually doesn't feel much different inside. The only things I notice are the windows and the revolving door. Thanks! Got back this morning and you're right. Better alcohol section which is really nice. I feel like they're still having trouble keep...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

All of them have disappeared to the west side of downtown. :D

I love these things and hope they're successful. It's going to take a few years for infrastructure to catch up.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

I think the Royals missed their opportunity for a new stadium downtown. And I'm not in love with any of the locations proposed anyway.

I'm not sure you could get to 50% these days even if you only asked the urban core.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Is any of the problem business owners not knowing what they are and having them removed?

Also why are the hours limited? Is that city policy or they don't have lights or don't want drunk people (I assume the latter)?

Re: 1800 Walnut

I’m saying that we should be talking/complaing about how there aresurface lots, and the few buildings are like 1 story buildings. Instead of complainingg about how a notoriously stingy and riskless developer actually wants to build something of a good size. Ohh I thought you were talking about buil...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

P.s. my name's Andrew. I don't want to be an anonymous douche. I've met a few of you that know that. The rest I'll be happy to buy a beer for when we meet. I don't want to speak in tautologies, but transit has to work. For the cost, what are you getting in return? Dave doesn't need to be lectured on...

Why would you build a one floor building instead of a parking lot under current zoning and tax law?

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I think people always hate change until you give it to them in a package and say look, here is what we can do. We dealt with this with the airport for years until we were finally able to mobilize around it and it passed easily. Transportation is going to change rapidly in significant ways and I thin...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

I know nothing about this, but has anyone approached cordish? It'll take a serious investment from the team and city and third parties. We're getting close to the point where this needs to be discussed for land reasons and future downtown planning. If it's a no, we need to stop banking land. It it's...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Yeah, this forum has a long history of being annoying and controversial. It also has a reputation of a lot of people with power being involved in it or actively reading it.

I always thought the idea was to bring up topics that are controversial and promoting what we think are best practices.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Phoenix, Minneapolis, Houston, etc have light rail dedicated in center lanes, we could do that.... you can't tell me it is hard to do just because we are in America. We tried getting voter approval for that -- twice -- and both attempts failed (city hall support for it was tepid, business support n...

Boards from the public meeting: http://kcstreetcar.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/MainStExt_PublicMtg2_BoardsMaps.pdf the more I look at these designs the more I think about how much potential we are about to flush and I'm kinda angry and how shit these designs are... This design reduces traffic la...

Re: OFFICIAL - Commerce Tower

Was the alcohol aisle stocked at all? They stopped stocking it prior to the renovation. I'm hoping they turn it back into a more full service store in that regards.

I went from buying Smirnoff to Tito's to having nothing available. Save time with gin.
