Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I'm not talking about the specific case here, but I believe a lot of places use them for private security and they have no authority in the streets. I know it's a bit joking, but I haven't had a lot of Segway encounters that bother me. I hope the answer is to try to keep scooters on the street, but ...

Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

So, I think it looks good and they seem to all be pros. I disagree with the debate about having bigger rooms. Most companies have rentals that put up anyone that will be there for extended amounts of time. For typical business travelers, you want everything to be taken care of. Breakfast and coffee ...

Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

The colored renderings look like absolute trash.(like Dreary In). However, the white renderings on the architects website actually look really nice. The hotel looks like the convention hotel from the east, the Center from the south, and somethinf complete unique from the west. I really hope the des...

They could get around it with solid landscaping, but I'd like to see them have another go at the design.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

Oh come on, it's fine as a neighborhood and serves a purpose for people there. I have no problem with a drunk, young, sports neighborhood. I just have no faith that KC will pull it off. I see a stadium surrounded by parking lots and garages. Also, Kansas City isn't Chicago. Putting a stadium in the ...

How does this align with the original plan? I know our old governor messed it up, but how can you think the current plan on the old plan have any semblance?

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

My big worry about building the stadium downtown is how much parking they're going to want, and how much surface parking they'll want. I would have loved a downtown stadium before, but I think that was the chance. We're doing just fine without it. If it does come downtown, I want it to be on our ter...

The city found out July 19th that a significant part of the community benefits were rejected. The council was only notified last week.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Here's my read: The airlines want this to be as cheap as possible, edgemoor has their built in profit, and the city wants to use it as a slush fund for their constituents. That all leaves very little margin to build anything impressive, let alone above average. SOM is doing exactly what they were to...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

I was joking a little bit :) Most of what you said though is just standard airport stuff. People want bathrooms and seats with power? How many focus groups did it take to figure that out? In and out at the curb? That's standard at every modern airport. I guess here is a better question. What are we ...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

So the argument is that we hired an architect so incompetent that they didn't plan for seating?

And it doesn't have to come from anywhere. Just increase the cost.

Re: Layoffs at The Star

The problem for the star is that there is just better coverage online now than what they provide. You have Kevin Collison reporting on city issues, the athletic hiring all the best sports reporters, and twitter to fill in the gaps. I'd love to pay them, but I'm getting better coverage other places f...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

This is going to be a very, very generic airport. Better to put aside any expectations now, and just know we're getting the cheapest thing possible. The city fucked this up so bad. They should be running this project and issuing the bonds. You mean versus the status quo which is to give people expe...

The faa predictably bounced some of the community funding. Council still wants their slush fund paid.

Expect even more to come out of the design.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Have they admitted that their design wasn't practical though, or are they still claiming they're going to relocate the fountain and roof to a field? This just seems to be an airport that's basic as fuck with no pushback from anyone involved. The sprint center was paid for with use fees, and the rend...

Yeah I'm not sure don't use their own pictures against them is going to win many arguments. Maybe we should rethink what party is reckless here lol.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

I've relaxed my opinion after my initial online outrage phase. I think it was a poor presentation that lacked focus. I hope they can clear up their design goals and come back next time with something that defines better what they want that isn't so airline focused. I guess I got too much of an airli...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

I think you underestimate how much complaining there is about bathrooms. They highlighted the things they heard most about (close walk, bathrooms). But that's because kci is trash. The bathrooms are fine, but they're all before security. It was always a given that this would be fixed. I don't know....
