Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

The consensus seems to be to place the stadium where it won’t impact any Raggers’ immediate surroundings but is relatively nearby, should they choose to visit. I don't buy this. I think the consensus is that there will be a city funded stadium that will be surrounded by surface parking with no clea...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^Generally agree. Get free bus going and if it takes hold metro wide, then consider a downtown stadium. Otherwise place to outskirts of downtown, such as at Paseo bridge and Front St. It would have to be a Sprint center/power and light agreement. And I just don't see the city willing to do that dir...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but the problem with a downtown stadium is that the land around it will have more value as surface parking than as apartments or infill.

The city should be very, very careful.

Re: Three Light

I'm most excited to see the condos! Forgive the dumb question, but how many lots does Cordish have left to build on for high rise? I know we have three and strata (controversy aside), but what's left after that? I imagine they eventually want a flagship hotel, or are they happy to let others do that...

Re: Three Light

I largely agree with dcole here, even if he's put it in a mildly inarticulate way. I also think we're talking about three different issues: 1) premium apartments downtown need parking. And generally when these renters pay for parking, they expect secured, segregated spots. I can't speak for all buil...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

It's really an opportunity to rethink baseball stadiums. Smaller, high level premium, outfield bars, club level bars, family zome, apartments with rooftops around, smaller general crowds but cheap.

Daily usage even when the team isn't home.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

The east village won't do a single thing until downtown stadium is resolved.

I just don't trust them to develop around it. I see premium surface parking lots all around.

Someone should tell the dodgers their stadium will never work with such large elevation changes.
Everything works with money

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Let's be honest, ff hasn't been about art for a long time. Even in the early days that event was soaked in wine. Perhaps it's better to move to the east crossroads for the food and drinks and let the west be more whatever. I've started to see first Friday stuff all over downtown. It's inevitable tha...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

So quite predictably, the food trucks are just moving right outside the festival grounds to the east. So there will still be the same problems with more open streets and less regulation. This is the problem with this nimby bs. These decisions need to me made at higher level and not some neighborhoo...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Art is like jazz, people feel they should like it but most really don’t. First Fridays isn’t about art and never has been. Same with the Plaza art fair. The art is just an excuse for what people really want, an opportunity to be part of a community and have an experience in an interesting environme...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

There are cities that that put on significantly more complicated events on a regular basis. Where they have urban stadiums, more tourists, or just busier places. You're telling me Kansas City can't have one day a month, like 6th months a year, because of noise and trash? What happened was awful. But...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I'm not sure I agree that it's up to the crossroads to decide. That's NIMBY stuff that most of us fight against. I think that it would be a shame to lose one of the more unique events we have. But I do think that after what happened, it's fine to take a step back. The crossroads obviously needs mor...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

I would support East village or 18th and Vine as long as it doesn't involve surface parking and has some residential element to it.
