Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

I'd be for it if they'd donate the museum to the city. All I've heard, they continue to want to run for-profit.

Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park

Maybe instead of power and light (KC live), hit something more historical for food if he's really into history? I'm struggling to think of things for that age range, but brown and loe is in an old bank. Union station obviously. A bit depends on your budget and tastes. I'm thinking the same with hote...

Also, does anyone have a copy of the cordish development agreement?

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

Plus I'm assuming hr block would have worked with cordish if they came knocking.

Sounds like cordish wants to sit on this property until 2027 while they build out the rest of what they already control.

The rumor is that Cordish is lobbying against it so they can build something there that they would control.
Doesn't HRB control it for another few years?

Can't believe that Cordish will draw a lot of sympathy from the city.

Any background on if this would be a positive development?

A mixed use development for potentially three games? To what end?

I think people might be overthinking this a bit.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

We have pretty advanced soccer facilities so Im guessing a couple of teams will base themselves in KC for training. Plus central, easy travel. Plays well on television. They need a midwest city with Chicago out.

I think we have a decent shot. The bid committee seems to be doing a good job

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

Exactly. And ideally they would welcome the debate instead of bickering with people who disagree. Just seems weird to have an editorial/opinion side and then get annoyed when people have an opinion about their opinions... Like isn't that the whole fucking point? Or are these supposed to be edicts f...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

The idea of reporters aggressively defending editorials makes me very, very uncomfortable. Isn't the whole idea of an editorial board to have discussion too? Like I don't think Kevin was saying they were bad people, just that he thinks they're wrong. Seems like going after his ethics is a low move.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

People blame the distance because it's embarrassing to admit they suffer from fear and loathing without the certainty of a parking lot. It's true, and it's also reinforced by the revenue the team gets. So tailgating and "easy access" are hyped, but it's not like anyone is pulling up and parking rig...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

It's definitely bizarre.

I'm sure it's frustrating for the star that a lot of the best KC reporting is coming from other places now. The athletic and plenty of specialized sites for sports, cityscene for development, and so on.

Collison is great though. Sad that McClatchy has ruined the star.

Apparently, the Star Opinion board can’t do any actual journalism, saying there aren’t any tenants for this building so it shouldn’t receive incentives. Trust me, there are.
And we all know there are. It's shitty, lazy journalism.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

I haven't listened yet, but Jason is a big supporter of downtown baseball and Copaken has an interest obviously. So not surprising. I don't think there is any support in the established downtown neighborhoods. The attitude has changed in the urban core as opposed to last time we went through this. I...

Did someone here awhile back say that these buildings are almost never used?

Like they make a big deal of a grand opening, but then there's nothing ever going on.

I walked to get coffee this morning at spokes and at one sidewalk there was a protected entrance and at the other end it was blocked off.

So, I'm not sure looking for logic in our sidewalk laws will get you anywhere.

This is really confusing for me. It's an under used area but I can't tell if this will actually fix it. The focus on family is weird too.

My guess is nothing changed. They could improve it by just offering better food options.

I'm interested to see if there is any shift after the election. Every mayor wants a signature achievement and I can't figure out what his will be.

It'll be interesting to watch.
