Still don't know how to post pictures here, but that's a concept rendering of what they were looking for the place.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Also, I'm not convinced that it is a good argument to make. What's the follow through here? Do we really want to antagonize all of brookside (and a good deal of waldo) by turning this into a thing? I bet many there will sympathize with her more than a bunch of internet people running oppo research o...

Re: Old Federal Reserve (925 Grand)

That parking garage is just soul crushing. I hope it gets demolished or reclad, especially with pickwick across the street there. It looks like something they would build in DC to sustain a truck bomb. It really is. The garage isn't going anywhere but hopefully they can bring some light into it. De...

Bail reform would have to come from the state though, yeah?

You must be such an insufferable prick to know. My point, as always, is that this is a message board of like 12 people that post regularly. You could quiz all of us and we could all tell you where she lives and the grave, grave laws she's broken. If you feel so strongly about this, may I suggest wri...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

This obsession with DeJanes does seem a bit unhealthy. She's becoming a scooby doo villain with a bunch of fake detectives here. "And we would have gotten away with it, if not for that rotten DeJanes!" There's been a lawsuit filed and I'm sure maybe a few of you have tried to get local jo...

http://webfusion.kcmo.org/coldfusionapps/ActionCenterRequest/CaseInfo.cfm?CaseID=2016071092 They reopened this case August 1st and sent notice to the owner again. Eventually they'll be taken to court if they don't make changes. Report it again, two months is long enough to solve a problem. The city...

Re: Old Federal Reserve (925 Grand)

Have you reported these issues? A few months ago. I just don't think anyone cares. The entire south wall is a pigeon home caked in bird shit. I walk over a dead bird at least once a week there, and it's not a street I walk every day. I dunno how to post images here, it never works for me, but here'...

Re: Old Federal Reserve (925 Grand)

This place is disgusting. Today there were two dead pigeons on the sidewalk, among a billion pounds of bird poop and feathers. The garage (and building one presumes) are infested with rats. Does the city not hold anyone responsible for anything? Like could I buy a building, do complete fuck all for ...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

People are asking too much what Amazon can do to make my downtown what I want it to be and less what they're actually looking for (me included).

I just think it's an interesting trip through city planning and good for the future.

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

Maybe percentages aren't the best way to denote progress since you can't readily quantify it in those increments. Maybe just say the feasibility phase is finished? Or maybe it doesn't matter. Maybe nothing matters. There will never be a streetcar that can cover the vastness of the void we live in. ...

Re: Unbuilt KC

They didn't have the money to finish the building as designed anyway. It wasn't like we had an architectural icon and knocked it down. It was a completely unworkable project of hubris that nearly ruined businesses close by.

Bloomberg article suggests anonymous Amazon execs think Boston is the city to beat. HQ2 RFP may just be forcing Boston to offer up some big incentives. Is this really an open competition? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-12/amazon-is-said-to-weigh-boston-in-search-for-second-headquar...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

The north loop - imagine if we had the foresight and energy to have eliminated that monstrosity 5 years ago. Amazon could easily build a dense urban campus complex in the 30-35 acres it would free up. The East Village may be better for KC. There is still plenty of infill lots available to the east ...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

No taxes for 1000 years and also free land anywhere in the city and also every day at noon workers will leave their offices and pray to a giant, gold statue of Jeff Bezos in the East Village. No, I think the east village developers are *just* about to pull off their development plan. I'd much rathe...
