Making public transit free

Is this a discussion we can have?

Could we start a study on paying for KC transit on a citywide system similar to the streetcar?

I think that was a shot at Cerner and them basically saying they wanted a massive parking lot on a highway to drive to from loch lloyd.

Re: Three Light

People are making too much out of this. Politicians are going to politician. It's going to eventually pass and time isn't a big issue here.

Re: Kc skyscraper drought about to max depression era droughttt.

Copaken for the longest time had a vaporware rendering plastered on their site north of the Sprint center. Is that still there? They are such a frustrating company.

Re: Kc skyscraper drought about to max depression era droughttt.

Not sure how large you consider H&R Block but that would be the only large firm I can think of that has moved to downtown in the last 25 years. But that move was only from the fringe of the Plaza so for the city as a whole it wasn't that beneficial. Plus wasn't there plans for a second tower fo...

Re: Sidewalk snow removal/enforcement

So again the answer is...no

It's just so dangerous. My favorite was 10th Street where it was a complete sheet of ice and the handicap sidewalk access point if missed led straight into like a 6in drop off.

Sidewalk snow removal/enforcement

Does the city do any enforcement of snow/ice removal? Things have been pretty dangerous the past few days.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Kind of seems that way. Their well known sommelier retired a few years ago, and some of the old guard years before that. Their menu very, very rarely changed and was basically a straight grain fed beef menu with table sides. It wasn't a very innovative place to go to, and the food and drinks were ne...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

The Streetcar Authority is exploring using vehicles equipped with ice scrapers or heating the overhead lines, as other cities do, to prevent ice accumulation in the future and keeping the lines functional. http://www.kansascity.com/weather/article201224049.html Yes, Cincy has had the exact same iss...

Not complaining. :) It badly needs the renovation. I think they could be doing a better job of explaining the process to those of us that rely on it a lot.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Hasn't Cincinnati had significant weather issues with their streetcars? Is it a fundamental problem or limitation with the technology, or an implementation problem?

Re: Three Light

What hotels work with Cordish? Hyatt obviously wants back into the market, but not sure they're a fit. 100% agree on office space. All of our developers seem happy to sit on land though and wait for a premade project to come at them. We desperately need a few big employers to move downtown. There's...

If it was a curb, people would still try and park there. The yellow bollards say something pretty specific.

People actually tried to park up on the curbs to stay out of the street car [-X

That area is brutal at delaying the streetcar. I'm guessing it was the quickest, cheapest solution to the problem that had to be fixed. It should have been bumped out at design, but oh well. They fixed it :)

Re: Three Light

I was excited to think that 3 Light would begin construction as soon as 2 Light was completed (as when first announced). I should have known that would be too ambitious for KC  As it all depends on how fast 2 fills up, now I think it could be up to a year or more before they break ground. I u...
