Re: Best Chinese?

pine and bamboo has the best dim sum in the metro. bo lings is the only other place that does it. i've scoured the city for traditional dim sum. bo lings isn't good at all.

pine and bamboo, also, likely has foil wrapped chicken.

First Friday Informational Table

**Please move if this is not where this belongs. I don't post often, but I certainly read (lurk), and try to keep up. I need some help putting together an informational table for KUMC students describing First Fridays and what they are all about. The table will be in the student lounge of the med ce...

Re: Deflating Real Estate Bubble

The policy is dropped as soon as you get to 80% equity off the original purchase price. However, if you know about the way that installment loans amortize, that's after 10 years and 7 months of payments (assuming no additional principal). Considering how much your house is worth from even modest ap...

just an interesting side note - the city of independence celebrates his birthday by closing city buildings and giving their employees a holiday.

Re: The Same Panhandlers, with the Same Stories

I felt so guilty everytime I saw one of these guys, so I started carrying McDonald's gift certificates. They come in dollar increments, and work just like cash at McDonald's. Needless to say, my takers are fewer than those that throw them back in my face, wad them up and toss them on the ground, yel...

Actually it becomes Westport Road at State Line. Missouri is the one that gives numbered streets the names. :) So, Cupini's (one of my favorites) is on Westport. So confusing!

The Homeless, The Panhandlers, and The Beggars

This fits in with a book I've just finished, so I know that statistic - it's 22%. 22% of the current single adult homeless population suffers from severe and persistent mental illness. That was from a study conducted in 2001. Another study conducted in 2002 concluded that 1/3 of the entire homeless ...

wizards win and advance to confeence finals

I was at the game. It was amazing. I love the Wizards, and I watched them play with heart last night. Each of those guys went out there and did what they had to do last night for the greater good and in the process spanked San Jose and sent them home. Each goal all the fans tackled each other with h...

Facts are never right...

Growing up in Lenexa and Overland Park, the Plaza very much seemed like downtown to me. It wasn't until high school or maybe even college that I realized that the plaza and downtown are much different. From a suburban, outsider perspective, it's all downtown.

I Want To Tear Down The Plaza

Well, district specific - that makes sense. Duh. Is the plaza just one district? Does it overlap with another? Is it specifically one district - like do businesses on the edge of the plaza have to pay this parking tax? On the back of the sales tax sheet, gross sales is calculated with deductions and...
