Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Wonderful step forward. Lot of work still to be done. Two yes votes from our household toward the future of KC transit. Our current home is a .07 mile walk from the Main/43rd proposed stop, and not a bad walk/bike ride on a nice day.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

if I keep saying that capital improvements to the existing stadiums plus a streetcar extension would be a better investment than a new stadium, will this make it happen? What about if it could be done before a hypothetical 2028 World Cup? (Fantastic renders though!) It will come down to what the te...

Re: Historic Old Northeast

All great points Fang. Yes I of course remember that old building. RIP to heroes John Mesh and Larry Leggio.

This project is absolutely not a good use of a highly visible, desirable piece of real estate. Who is the developer here? This proposal is something more in line with a suburban area.

Re: 1800 Walnut

No, the height seems completely appropriate. Corrigan and Arterra are comparable projects this is not materially inconsistent. Agree with previous sentiment, 30-story glass tower belongs in the CBD, but this looks like a mid-level residential and seems 100% right sized for the neighborhood and sound...

Re: Capping the Loop

North loop already is very dangerous and need of upgrades. Better to remove and re-develop than spend more money on it and developing a spaghetti interchange with the new 169 bridge. Simple solutions to the loop were proposed in the most recent Beyond the Loop Report: - Remove Grand onramp on 670 -A...

Re: Capping the Loop

Apparently the Unified Gov (KCK) is formerly opposing the removal of the North Loop and has stated they will not support it through the MARC process. Their concern is the potential affect of an additional 3 minutes of congestion to the PM commute. Um, for real? Source? https://i.imgur.com/sXKOuCB.j...

From Facebook Page "KC Real Estate." Unsure if any of this is new. Exciting news Northland!! KCRE and our RN North office met with the METRO NORTH CROSSINGS developer and now we can answer a lot of questions about what is happening with the plan for the 106 acre land of the old Metro North...

This article is a lot better than anything with a Bill Nigro quote has been. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/sam-mellinger/article210782479.html Agreed, fantastic article. Mellinger hit it on the head- there needs to be more conversation on how we can address the Westport merchan...

http://www.kansascity.com/news/business/article210254839.html It takes about eight-and-a-half minutes to walk from Westport Road and Pennsylvania Avenue, the heart of the Midtown bar-and-restaurant district, to 39th and Main, a likely stop on the KC Streetcar's proposed extension from Union Station ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Saw DeJanes on KSHB last night - describing her SmartKC as leading the contingent of Westport businesses against the streetcar because people would have to walk .4 miles from the stop to Westport, but the businesses still have to pay the extra tax. This may be the dumbest argument I have heard in a...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

I think I'll take Dave's word for it. I didn't think the TDD was an option anymore with the vote to make all rail planning city wide. Am I off on that? NKC has a TDD on the books, never collected on. It's known it's not enough value to fund the whole line though. The point is that NKC leadership is...

So, going by the below article, I guess a TDD could still be used for funding, but a citywide vote would still be required for the city's participa...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

I don't see any point in streetcar to TSC. Unrealistic that there will be baseball played there in 20 years, and 20 events a year at Arrowhead don't justify it. If rail ever gets built on the Rock Island then there will be a stop for TSC. Only way I would be for a line to TSC is if the Hunts and Gl...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

The current buildings are not at all iconic, so sounds like they're going to build yet another office park I like the current new buildings. Take away the parking lots and they are pretty cool looking IMO. They would look great in an urban location near downtown, hospital hill etc. I thought the ne...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

Phase 3&4 will be somewhat less highly designed than 1&2. Less "iconic," more high quality office space, think more like Continuous Campus. Pics from inside the main building - Innovations 1024 https://www.gouldevans.com/portfolio/cerner-innovations-building-1024 Continuous Picture...
