Re: On-going downtown development projects

I don't know where else to post this, so I decided to post this here. I took the first photo on June 22nd, 2015 from the Link Bridge by Union Station. It is below. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/258/18907989119_1b1761b3b1_k.jpg This second photo was from September 30th, 2018 from the same location ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Thanks for all the pics! Looking thru them I'm surprised how many exposed power lines are still in place. I would have thought the city would make the developers bury them. Developers have nothing to do with the transmission system, which is what you're seeing. The developer would just run conduit ...

Re: PortKC launches new inland port development

This is a terrible part of the city, environmentally ravaged and blighted after decades of heavy industry I think this this is actually a really exciting project as labor and fuel continues to push overland truck shipping up and up in cost. Will be interested to see the final plans. I have read seve...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

One of our lowest scores in the FIFA review and the biggest feasible improvement KC could make is improving connectivity to the stadiums. I recommended Streetcar expansion in my opinion makes the most sense long term to help develop the east side. Obviously, funding + time frame would be difficulty...

Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread

I guess this could go in various threads. I enjoy hearing what other municipalities have to say about KC's transit adventures. I posted another link in a local paper where Cincinnati leaders were discussing their issues running their streetcar (low ridership, maintenance, questionable governance wit...

Bar K: Tour the new pups-and-pints pub on the riverfront Bar K's 2-acre dog park in Berkley Riverfront Park carries a unique distinction among traditional canine gathering spaces: It offers the pets' owners as much potential fun as it does the dogs. Bar K includes a restaurant, lots of seating and ...

Re: Drury Plaza Hotel

The school district is the entity that appears to have control and power over the future use of this site. Are they exempt from city processes? No, the school district is not exempt, but what power does the city have, until or if, Drury or similar entity asks for favors? The city can not prevent th...

Re: Drury Plaza Hotel

Looks like a 10-story project. If they smartened up the exterior a bit from this rendering (a little more modern and urban please) I don't hate it. Is the parking garage under the building or adjacent? Hard to tell. For that prime lot, a 2-story parking garage is on par with as bad as a 4 story hote...

Let's not go down this argument again haha.

Building looks good. I like the Skybridge idea. Just make sure those tie rods are spec'd properly.

Re: Historic Old Northeast

This is what the developer, Robert Andrew of M.A.C. Corp, said he is currently contemplating 1) let the property sit and “let it grow weeds” for 20 years as the parcel appreciates in value; 2) sue the City of Kansas City, Missouri for denying his client’s property rights; or 3) let his legal repres...

Re: Outlaw Cigars

After Hen House closed in the Tremont Shops I think it may take some creativity to determine what could fit in that space. Can see why Outlaw wants to move to NKC. The growth of that bar & entertainment area has been explosive. There is a gym across 64th st and in Burlington Creek shops, (overload) ...

Too bad St. John is moving — I feel like it is one of the last truly luxury brands on the Plaza — but glad they will remain in the market. I hope Taubman can fill the space with two brands as unique and upscale as St. John . It’s a primo corner spot by Apple and Tiffany. St. John Knits is moving: h...
