Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
The kayak/marina is a great touch. Really nice renderings, I know the Longs are pretty rich but hope they got some other deep pocketed investors too so this comes to fruition.

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion
It really is wild how low density the IL side metrolink line is. This expansion seems like an easy call though, they're already so close to that airport. The only thing with Waldo is how much utility relocation would cost. I'm not an expert, but given the track would be in a dedicated right of way a...

I would just add that some, although a definite minority, neighborhoods of the "new urbanism" design incorporate alleyways. Beacon Hill, New Town at Harmony Independence, and Shoal Creek - Village come to mind. Also Northgate Village in NKC. Alley garage access as well as small parklets i...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
KC Current: zero incentives from city, county or state. Sold out the entire season and ticket prices starting at $150/ea. someone explain to me how $1.7B in incentives for the new Royals is a better deal than lowly women’s soccer? Because it cost 1/10th of what a new MLB stadium will cost. If they ...

Re: Plaza Residential Development
The main issue in this area is not street parking, but its that 45th Street should not have on-street parking as it's too narrow and backs up. It's typical NIMBYism to try and prevent others from living in the same great area. This lot is surrounded on 3 sides by medium-dense multi-family housing co...

Re: Would You Recommend KC?
Yes, don't read too much into this forum or the social media postings. KC has its share of problems, but it's still a nice place to live. I would echo one thing and I agree is that for younger people it can be hard to meet people without actively seeking out interest groups and activities, but that ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Just cap that atrocious highway. East loop still will need work even if not in the east village. Imagine northland traffic exiting onto 670 merging across all lanes on to one flyover. We don’t need more lanes, just better exits and reduce choke points.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I'm still happy that the stadium is going downtown at least. The demolition of the existing buildings is not great but also mostly are parking lots and low-rise structures. Hopefully, this means the surrounding surface parking lots will be developed quickly.

Re: Sporting Kansas City
If sporting starts playing poorly, I think there is a good chance their attendance drops like a rock and they will quickly go to the bottom tier of attendance. I think this is where location will hurt them, just like the Royals. Weekday attendance, drawing from a younger more urban demographic etc ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
It's .4 mile from EV to PNL. 10-minute walk. It's half the distance that people walk from Lot L to the stadiums. Road diet and beautify 12th st to PNL, close it completely on certain game days. I've waivered, but EV just makes more sense for the stadium imho. Its easier/quicker to acquire (limited l...

"Coach Reid confirms that Charles Omenihu tore his ACL. Joe Thuney (pectoral) also won’t practice today, although Coach added that Thuney “is making progress,” and “he’s not counted out.” They’ll just see how he does. No other injuries to report for the Chiefs today." https://twitter.com/K...

Re: OFFICIAL - Buck O'Neil Bridge
FYI public opinion was weighted heavily towards direct I-35 connection. Not saying it’s right, but you can’t just hang everything MODOT (even though they deserve a lot of it).
Remember we almost got a repair/bandaid of the existing bridge except MARC/KC region stepped in and provided funding.

We need a better system for review and approval of permits associated with structures over [X] years old without being overly burdensome and also having appropriate remedies and financial assistance to incentivize historical preservation. St Louis has a pretty robust historical review process.

Thanks for going into detail. I don't know how we get to that vision at this point. I don't know if they will ever prioritize North Loop removal which may be the catalyst something like this or if it's too late. I mean its never too late to do something it just gets more expensive or delayed. I rem...

This can't seriously be torn down, right? That is absolutely insane and makes me not want to come on here to learn about depressing things like this. Gas lines shut off and barrier fence up. No one’s paying attention. Our leaders are too busy watching the Chiefs games and promoting their jobs after...
