Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

One of our lowest scores in the FIFA review and the biggest feasible improvement KC could make is improving connectivity to the stadiums. I recommended Streetcar expansion in my opinion makes the most sense long term to help develop the east side. Obviously, funding + time frame would be difficulty....

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

Thought maybe I'd start a pro/con list as this discussion continues. Downtown Stadium Pros -New facilities that all fans can enjoy. -Potential for more profit the Royals (need to keep them in town) -Closer for downtown residents and potential for higher attendance -Sweet views -Potential for spin of...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Many people who leave trade schools end up making as much or more than someone with a 4-year college degree. It was a real eye opener when we bought our house and had some trades out to do work. They make good money. Can attest to this as well. Have a friend who is a painter and another who is an e...

On March 1, hot-rolled ste...

Re: What route makes the most sense for a beginning Light Rail line in KC?

I am of the mindset that the city's traffic, size and (relative) lack of density are not conducive to large scale light rail, even in 20-30 years. I agree with Dave. Let's leverage the available funding to improve bus and implement BRT service when possible, and work to see what eastern spurs of the...

what is the time frame that we would find out about the BUILD grant? Under the FY 2018 Appropriations Act, the DOT must make awards by December 18, 2018. https://naco.sharefile.com/share/view/s87457b0eb1745ce8 Thought this article was a helpful overview of the program. https://citiesspeak.org/2018/...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

The Next Rail study provides the exact type of systemwide rail planning and alignment review that is needed. Decision makers already have a good idea of which areas are most suited for Streetcar and transit-oriented development. Armour is awesome, but no streetcar was needed for the development to t...

Two light is "expected to be fully occupied by fall" but Three Light "won't begin construction until 2019?" So they made a huge change to the time line? I thought the original plan was to begin Three construction when Two reached a certain % leased? Now they are postponing Three construction severa...

Just other things to consider about how well our system seems to be working compared to the issues that our co-buyers in Cincinnati have had. They originally has had some ambitious expansion plans that have virt...

Wonderful step forward. Lot of work still to be done. Two yes votes from our household toward the future of KC transit. Our current home is a .07 mile walk from the Main/43rd proposed stop, and not a bad walk/bike ride on a nice day.

if I keep saying that capital improvements to the existing stadiums plus a streetcar extension would be a better investment than a new stadium, will this make it happen? What about if it could be done before a hypothetical 2028 World Cup? (Fantastic renders though!) It will come down to what the te...

All great points Fang. Yes I of course remember that old building. RIP to heroes John Mesh and Larry Leggio.

This project is absolutely not a good use of a highly visible, desirable piece of real estate. Who is the developer here? This proposal is something more in line with a suburban area.

Re: 1800 Walnut

No, the height seems completely appropriate. Corrigan and Arterra are comparable projects this is not materially inconsistent. Agree with previous sentiment, 30-story glass tower belongs in the CBD, but this looks like a mid-level residential and seems 100% right sized for the neighborhood and sound...
