Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

The current buildings are not at all iconic, so sounds like they're going to build yet another office park I like the current new buildings. Take away the parking lots and they are pretty cool looking IMO. They would look great in an urban location near downtown, hospital hill etc. I thought the ne...

Phase 3&4 will be somewhat less highly designed than 1&2. Less "iconic," more high quality office space, think more like Continuous Campus. Pics from inside the main building - Innovations 1024 https://www.gouldevans.com/portfolio/cerner-innovations-building-1024 Continuous Picture...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

The North Oak/I-29 interchange is a mess. Rebuild it as part of the project. Has there ever been a diverging diamond / streetcar combo? The internet delivers: https://www.mccrossan.com/projects/diverging-diamond-interchange https://www.mccrossan.com/sites/default/files/styles/modal_large___25...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

Light rail makes more sense to the TSC. This would also connect eastern suburbs to DT with Park and Ride to the RM. I disagree, in my opinion the purpose of these streetcars is connecting neighborhoods with frequent stops. It would cost more and be more inefficient for a commuter rail which would s...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

The I-29 bridge on N. Oak isn't high enough. Need 16 feet clearance and it's not. Getting the train past Vivion Rd will be the first barrier going north let alone traveling all the way to the airport Given NKC passed a TDD in 2008 and is moving forward with Burlington corridor biking improvements w...

Short time KCRag poster, long time Clay Chastain hater just wanted to weigh in on my outlook for further streetcar expansion, no gondolas involved. Phase 3 needs to be Linwood/31st to Truman Sports. Exciting projects like Levy at Martini Corner development, Operation Breakthrough and Wonder lofts in...

Re: Electric Park Neighborhood (East Bottoms)

Am I going crazy or wasn’t the original Electric Park somewhere near where Emmanuel Cleaver BLVD is today? Not the original. According to an article that this article linked to, the original was right next to the brewery- they even had beer piped over. As KC expanded south, the Heims decided to ope...

Re: Downtown New Residential Units

Breaking news, "living downtown is expensive, there is little money in new subsidized housing construction at prime urban locations." Maybe people just need to move a couple blocks east, plenty of affordable housing.

Re: 911 Linwood Redevelopment as Senior Housing

Whatever is happening, it better happen fast. Affordable housing funding and historic tax credits are both on the chopping block on the federal and state level. I would assume this project would utilize both. a Agreed! Time is short. From reading the last article about this project, the new owner, ...

Re: 911 Linwood Redevelopment as Senior Housing

Was there ever any progress on the 911 linwood project? Seems like it has gone nowhere. In another thread, a poster notes a Troost & "-Linwood - UC/B proposal for 134 units + retail in 3 phases. Still very preliminary."

Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)

This is so sad for a promising project. I hope they are not commenting fraud but still that the developers have a generous insurance policy and the damage isn't too bad :( Need to get the financing lined up asap, their investment is literally going up in smoke. https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/GVCeaY...

I'd also take the fact that there isn't an official rendering of the towers from this angle (the most photographed angle in the city!) as suspicious. I agree with the general sentiment as well. While I understand they have a particular architect/style they would like to stick to, if they could be m...
