Re: Porchfest

Having to cross SW trafficway was kind of a pain. Maybe just have it all in roanoake next year would be better. Thought it was a little too spread out this year. i consulted with them on that. didn't people park on the trafficway (which is totes legal on the weekend) to calm the traffic a bit? were...

Re: Porchfest

Not sure of the logistics of it, but if there is a max number of porches they shouldn't spread it out. I agree, SW was a bit of a demarcation.

Hopefully they take all comers and the crowd was a bit suppressed due to the weather.

Still one of my favorite community events.

Expanded to Roanoke this year, best opportunity to check out cool houses with great background music.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Went to Swordfish Tom's last night. Almost too authentic, I half expected re-enactors to show up at any moment. Don't get me wrong, the drinks were absolutely killer, and though expensive, very generous. I will make my way through their drink menu, but not more than once a month. We went early, anyo...

Re: Kansas City Music

I'd like KC to get to the point that we get first dibs on shows before LFK. Still way too many that opt for there over us. I think downtown population growth/millemnials will help.

Hard to compete with a captive college audience.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

It would include a streetcar from downtown. Considering our weather, they'd probably drive the few blocks most of the time anyway. This seems like something we could use to shave 20 years off of development timelines that would fill the gaps. I'm thinking of 18th Street in particular. Downtown is al...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

I think downtown and crossroads don't need a stadium. Around 71 highway is as close as I would bring it.

We liked it OK also. Not great, but enough. Had some good cocktails and also had to chase my server from the smoking area out back when they were out of touch.

I look forward to see what transpires.

Re: Are apartment rental costs too high downtown?

Lots of new construction in DT Overland Park. Rents are 200-300 less for similar sized units. So the question is, is it demand driven, is land that much more expensive in KCMO, or is it construction cost? I think kboish addressed this point pretty well a couple of posts back. Apples to apples, etc....
