Re: KC CityState

Great comments. Odd that a departure requires a vote. Hardly a coup. So thinking smaller, I wonder why rural depopulating counties don't merge. Same argument on representation and turf wars I guess. change is a constant though

Re: KC CityState

Of course they dont want it to happen. its the golden goose. but can they prevent it? Totally out of my legal league here. is it a vote? is it a coup? is it a midnight move out? See California's efforts.

KC CityState

Ok been thinking about this and as a quasi-outsider, this is my opinion on getting past the barriers perceived in the way. And thru a few leaks to others in place) testing this theory, no one has yet to throw up a credible barrier other than the unfortunately ubiquitous "show me" pukeage. ...

Re: Homogenization of KC

I agree with both comments. I have studied the history for a couple of years now and while the burbs are already lost to the oblivion of commodization, the genesis of the KC core is still that outpost, trading or jumping off spot into the great unknown that either pushed settlers forward or kept the...

Re: Homogenization of KC

gondolas? All ideas and thoughts are needed. KC was born and raised on logisitics . A trading post. French traders selling furs downstream and wares shipped upstream. Getting here was one thing as steamboats seemed to last about two trips before blowing up or sinking. Crossing the chasm of the great...

Homogenization of KC

This one is for you wizards...you know the concept...forget gentrification and think about homogenization of cities...Tulsa looks like KC which looks like Indy, etc. WHAT MAKES KC UNIQUE and how do we focus and protect this in the architecture, culture and vibe??? https://www.fastcompany.com/4055824...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

So will the region make their proposal public now? We already know a big reason why we lost: we pitched suburban sites in places like Olathe. Really? that was the pitch? correct, KC deserves to lose. Alt pitch would have been a win-win-win. on top of I-70, parking below, next to new stadium with na...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

bright lining here...KC needs to try harder on all aspects other than incentives. Would have spoiled it. Civic support for transit, education, life safety, arts, startups, vocational training, etc. Think bigger and goodies will follow.

Re: Buying a Condo in Downtown KC!

BTW, Epoch offers for-sale residences in the RiverMarket. We do believe the rental market is saturated and are not afraid to sell. All of our apartments were condo'd 10 yrs ago and selectively selling plus new 6 new townhomes on Wyandotte due out of the oven in 2018.

Re: Our Daily Nada (304 Delaware- RM)

Looks great! That was one thing I always thought Kansas City needed, prosperos is great, but I always want a coffee when I'm in there. Luckily nomads is next door now. I'd also like to see the kc library team up with places coffee shops like the Nelson did with quay. I think it would bring a lot of...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

KC is 1/2-1/3 the density needed for comprehensive light rail
commuter rail to outliers including KCI makes sense though with hidden agenda of bringing skilled labor/brainpower into KC
Long term however KC will need 1-2 E-W corridors like 12th or 18th or 31st or not.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I agree. I see almost no good reason to ever tear down vintage treasures. Have always thought that the whine about parking is the wrong whine...it should be " I cant find enough cool places to live so i can WALK to work".
