Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Okay somewhat agree and perhaps my comment was more slanted towards prioritization vs yes/no. Seems to me the first line solved the intended need plus proved the concept of investment along a line will occur - duh. But I am NOT seeing a conversation or hear chatter on commuters and given recent disc...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Okay i've had it. the extension is just flat a bad idea based on the success of a good idea and what better way to ruin both then throwing money at a low density, sketchy concept that doesnt intersect anything useful. Who is going to use it? Not plaza patrons. UM CK will take uber to CBD amenities b...

Re: How Kansas City got its' name

First the Town of Kansas in RM, then City. Even Columbus Park area was called East Town of Kansas.
Delaware Street of course named after the tribe that had been relocated right across the Kansa.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

Oh come on, it's fine as a neighborhood and serves a purpose for people there. I have no problem with a drunk, young, sports neighborhood. I just have no faith that KC will pull it off. I see a stadium surrounded by parking lots and garages. Also, Kansas City isn't Chicago. Putting a stadium in the...

why either or? Denver did all and look where it went. Airport, People Mover then Light Rail, Downtown stadiums - all three. thats a commitment to an vibrant urban lifestyle.

Re: The Junction Before and After

https://gizmodo.com/6-freeway-removals-that-changed-their-cities-forever-1548314937 Okay, you’re thinking, but where do all the cars go? It turns out that when you take out a high-occupancy freeway it doesn’t turn the surface streets into the equivalent of the Autobahn. A theory called “induced dem...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

My big worry about building the stadium downtown is how much parking they're going to want, and how much surface parking they'll want. I would have loved a downtown stadium before, but I think that was the chance. We're doing just fine without it. If it does come downtown, I want it to be on our te...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

This is exactly where I have always envisioned a downtown stadium in KC being built. Not sure why there are high rises directly north of the stadium in your rendering cutting off the view of downtown, but, otherwise it's exactly as I've envisioned it since working near Wash Park back in the late 90...

Re: The Junction Before and After

and ditto on the ULI "ditch the ditch" movement (or lack thereof). The city gains acres of land back to re-sell on top of former I-70 deck - now integrated parking, commuter rail, bus terminus, etc.

Re: The Junction Before and After

Of course nothing is happening. That's not the point. I'm not talking about this stuff happening now. 10 years is actually a pretty good estimate for when this might be plausible. This forum is for speculation right? I think a lot of the reason the junction area is dead is because so much of it can...

Re: 2018 Downtown Reports

Frustrating for those wanting to stay and invest in downtown that we can't get more condos going...those 6 are the delaware landing project which has been delayed but as the developer posted on here, still in the cards. Condo liability is still real for developers unlike other states that limit cla...

superior linen is a bit of a culprit - agreed. i tried several times to buy either all of west side of cherry or dead lot on 31st and couldnt put enough nails in the jello to hold it still. doesnt know what he wants, doesnt know what price he would sell for as targets always moves and as to employme...

Re: What route makes the most sense for a beginning Light Rail line in KC?

commuter rail going forward makes the most sense - not only from the tired "density" excuse but also satellite towns that can become farm clubs for KC labor force, etc. Even Denver's light rail has too many stops in its framework and it IS 2x the density. Commuter rail to DIA is workable, albeit I w...

Re: Capping the Loop

Was told first step was swapping 670 and 70 signs as it is easier to rid a 3 numbered interstate than 2. then buried parking for north loop (ballpark) stop, then ballpark (amazon or other field) then parks and bldgs above. remember the city will get this land back so payback is property taxes and sa...
