Re: Uptown Shoppes

The most ecologically-sound method of providing housing is to reuse older structures and just improve the insulation; and methods that are used to heat and cool them. For example, add a lot of insulation in the roof and walls, and put solar panels on the roof. If you stop using mostly natural gas a...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Those other two brands are interested in opening a store? a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush Just using stores that others gave as examples and giving specifics as to why they are better options. There are more stores than Zara, Uniqlo, Old Navy and Alter'd States though, and the developer...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Yikes... Alter'd State does not seem fashionable or high end either. It looks like a store for early 2010s suburban teens. Zara would have been a good alternative for Alter'd State (price points aren't that far off and it is much more stylish and modern) and Uniqlo would have been a good alternative...

That sounds about like what I was thinking. I think Finefolk is generally a good example of how I conceptualize luxury. They stock a great mix of higher end well known designers and independent designers.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I don't doubt the upscale direction. I imagine Nordstrom's had to be convinced of that fact before signing. I just think luxury shopping and luxury goods might look different to a millenial than to someone my age. I mean, Burberry and Williams-Sonoma leaving seems like a step backward to me, but ma...

I noticed while driving by the other day a couple of windows broken out (that I either hadn't noticed or hadn't been broken before) too.

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

Wow, its funny how at one time Walmart was labeled the bad guys. Walmart pays fairly well if you work your way up, Store Managers can make 80-120k a year but they can also bonus up to 100k a year. Even the middle managements can average a salary of 45-75k and bonus 1-20k. Walmart really wasn't even...

Re: Three Light

I don't think the city should have given Cordish money in the first place. You really don't seem to get that I'm opposed to incentives pretty much across the board because their use has been so broad and the benefits rarely trickle down to the most in need (don't worry, though, the most in need won'...

Welcome to capitalism, where you can be born with nothing and be anyone you want to be! I mean the richest 2100 people made like 86% of the new wealth last year (enough to bring every impoverished person in the world out of poverty and some) but you’re right...Total meritocracy! Also, (again) it’s ...

So I’m expected to pay full rent while someone else can live in the same building, same unit and get a steep discount? Explain to me how that’s far? Yeah because locking them up is a better idea! Jesus, y'all need to log off and actually talk to some people because thinking all of this isn't related to the social, economic, and historic issues of the Plaza and Kansas City is, well, ignorant and short-sighted. No one is suggesting museum trips. I...

I don't really think they have a problem with poor people? Raising thr quantity supplied of housing by thousands of units does a whole lot more to help than a few dozen "affordable" units. I was being snarky and referencing a previous comment about how unfair it is that someone needing af...

I think if the city heard your plan to build housing sufficient for those who need it while making enough money on t...
