Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

How ironic that even if the stadium doesn't get built in the Xroads there will still be continued development in the area like freeway cap and additional population from 18th/Vine, Parade Park, 4L, Midland, Calvert's Lot, etc. that will eventually price many of those businesses out of the East Cross...

Re: wtf is happening to w. 39th?!

I feel as though many of the SFHs around 39th could use replacing. I’m not saying a new 2+5 but at least some walk ups or row homes. The housing stock is not always in great shape. similar to north plaza in that regard Leave my beautiful neighborhood alone! I don't see what needs replacing. I am re...

Re: wtf is happening to w. 39th?!

Mushroom Culture is in negotiations to take over the former Blue Koi space. They've started a Mainvest initiative to raise funds. Will have grab-n-go meals, butcher display case, hot food items and to go window facing 39th St sidewalk.

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Who pays the cost of demolition of the K and what is that estimate? BTW does anyone REALLY care that the concrete from the K will be repurposed? Just seems like lip service to be responsible stewards of the environment but maybe (probably) I'm out of touch.

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

$800 million dollars. While some of the amenities (360 mostly covered upper concourse, additional entrances, quicker concessions lines, etc.) are warranted, it feels like a lot of this is about prepping Arrowhead and the reimagined parking area to hold more concerts and other revenue generating even...

Re: 5th and Main (Northwest Corner)

I know a restaurant owner in the RM and spoke to him right after the meters went in. He could care less about where his customers park but he was very concerned about his employees. The meters have time limits and they have to run out and feed them during their shift and can barely afford the cost,...

Re: One North Development

Did The Fresh Market end up backing out of this development? Would love to see them come back to the area but I read somewhere that they were no longer part of the development.

Re: Westwood - 47th Street

A solid job bringing some life into an otherwise struggling retail section. I guess everything is relative, but honestly feels pretty vibrant to me. The original Joe's alone probably draws in more tourists than any restaurant on the Kansas side at least. Looks like pretty low vacancy too. You're ri...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Why isn't there a concentrated push to counter misperceptions about parking? Or that some of the revenue from the hotel/conference center would go into the team payroll instead of the owner's pockets? Or the benefit of reducing subsidies to the P&L? Or that taking the streetcar could result in f...

Re: Westwood - 47th Street

It does look really nice - hard to believe it took 2+ years to get that completed. A solid job bringing some life into an otherwise struggling retail section. Anyone remember the nasty Apple Market where Walmart Neighborhood Market is? The strip mall with the thrift store where the swim school is no...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Really hard to stay positive on the stadium. I think I just spent half my time this weekend in KC trying to get friends and relatives on board with a new stadium. They are being swayed hard by all this anti stadium stuff on social media. If this were a Royals only vote, I think it would go down by ...

Re: Fixing the KC Zoo (ongoing)

The southern end of the Africa section really needs wider walkways - in the summer and on weekends everything gets clogged with double-wide strollers, slowpokes, wagons and general dumbasses who just stand in the middle of everything.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Perception is reality for most voters (and Royals game attendees) that are on the fence. Having a horrible incident like yesterday is all that many need to vote against the downtown relocation or vow not to attend games there even though the finished stadium is a long ways off. People don't like the...

Re: Former Google Fiber Space on Westport Rd

People are such dumb asses that even though it's not a drive-thru, but rather a place to pick up mobile or delivery orders, there will still be a constant number of customers not understanding that they can't order like a regular drive thru. This place will be one huge cluster lol. Let's hope they d...

Matches spread across three weeks with three weekend matches including one with probably no other competing matches on tv is pretty great.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

The REI Co-op store in Wichita isn't big but they make better use of the space than the one in OP. I always wondered how long it would last but after becoming a frequent customer over the past year I've discovered they've done a great job with engaging the local bike community and do a brisk busines...

Re: OFFICIAL - Prairiefire

I'd think they'd get more attendance from a college soccer hall of fame given the number of soccer tournaments in JoCo just down the street from PrairieFire. Seems like there are a lot of soccer hall of fames but nothing dedicated to college.

Re: Parker Square Apartments Renovation

Owner wants to renovate these apartments and renew the 20 year HUD housing contract keeping the community 100% Section 8 housing. Around $50,000 per unit (maximum HUD allows). Port KC is working to help facilitate this project. KCPS (Kathleen Pointer) and Community Mental Health Fund (Bruce Eddy) w...
