Renderings of the new ballpark: https://www.kansas.com/news/politics-government/article224930425.html Lots of people seemed to react with "if we're spending this much money on a ballpark, we need something special"... not realizing that they're really trying to pull this off on a 13-month schedule ...

Re: Westport
Aggieville needs to stay in Manhattan. Can't the dude aspire to providing some options for people who don't want to relive their college glory days every weekend? On a brighter note, a new breakfast-all-day place from Denver, Snooze is coming to Westport at 4140 Broadway. Article says a new building...

Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park
Don't know if you have seen this? I have mixed emotions. https://www.worldwar1centennial.org/honor/national-wwi-memorial.html As a memorial, I find it a little underwhelming, but maybe they're still working on it. And I think I'd be intimidated by the stairs if I were elderly or mobility issues. An...

Re: St Louis: City and County Consider Merger
I can't imagine any municipalities wanting to be merged into KC - losing local control of police, increased taxes with less control over local ordinances, etc.

Re: Downtown New Residential Units
So downtown nears 16K apartments...two years ago. And saying 2,500 people pay between $1000 and $1499 - shouldn't that be 2,500 apartments rent between that amount since more than one person can live in some apartments? I know it's nitpicking, but I have to write stuff like this as part of my job an...

Larkburger is pulling out of KC. 4800 Main is going to look super empty now, I hope a local place comes in, i honestly think its a perfect spot for Q39. We're at a point where gourmet burger joints are a dime a dozen and there's not much you can do to separate yourself from the competition. With th...

Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park
It's the access to the front lawn from all directions and lack of things to do that are the problem with the underusage. How can anyone think that if the original designs of the north side of the memorial were implemented that there would not be more use? Why would I take time to walk around the mem...

Penn Valley has pockets of activity - the dog park and skate park are highly used, as are the softball fields during nice weather. Goes to show you that if you provide access and options people will use the park.

One of the ugliest buildings downtown, but says something that AT&T would rather move their downtown employees to Brookside(ish) rather than moving employees downtown. Maybe they had a sweet offer on the building.

Re: North Plaza Hotel- 46th and Broadway
Wasn't Hyatt interested in building around 46th/Jefferson a few years ago and the project was deemed to be too dense for the location (and requested too many subsidies)? Would be nice to have a quality Hyatt back in the central core, and with Hyatt House proposed downtown, maybe they would be intere...

Kohl's is one retail place i never understood and think it's all psychological based on the sales they run but usually all the clothes are jacked up to begin with so a lot of time you are paying the normal prices even though you are getting it "on sale" Agree. The Loretto has been sold again - this time to Del Properties. The sale also includes seven of individual rental homes on the southern and southeastern edges, and those properties have already been receiving new roofs over the past couple of weeks. The plan is to keep the Loretto as an event space a...

I went to Isle of Capri a few weeks ago for the first time in a couple of years - what a completely depressing shit hole. There's absolutely nothing to draw people there, whether it's amenities, winning percentage or even just plain atmosphere.
