Re: West 39th Street Apartments

As someone who lives off of 39th, I couldn't disagree more. I avoid the intersections of 39th/SW Trfy at all costs, especially during rush hour because traffic builds up for blocks. Maybe if 39th had designated left turn lanes and a single thru lane it could be accomplished, but right now its a clus...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

There's no sure thing that the site being pitched is downtown. Sure, it's what most of us want, but this is a regional effort and even though Amazon prefers an urban setting in Seattle doesn't mean it's a stipulation for the new HQ. The Research Triangle in North Carolina is hardly urban, and their ...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

One of the local newscasts interviewed on the street asked why they were only going to build one terminal - why not replace all three? She said 'everyone is always talking about how people don't want to stick around our city - they just fly in and out. We need three terminals to keep people here lon...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

No need to make the case publicly that Sherry DeJanes is an obstructionist out for her own narrow interest, willing to set back Kansas City's system of public transit by decades in order to preserve her surprisingly spacious backyard. I'm sure she'll go away of her own accord any day now. &&...

Re: Another 16th & Main hotel

The article mentions that 100 parking spaces will be available on the SE corner of 16th/Main. Does anyone know whether the folks behind the Hampton development own that surface lot or just leasing spaces from another owner? Just wondering how future development of a surface parking lot directly on t...

Re: Houston 2015

It's insane to think that any coastal areas on the Gulf or Atlantic could ever think they were immune to a weather-related natural disaster. And certainly no worse than the unfortunate folks who lost everything in Katrina/Rita and then moving to Houston thinking the results would be different. Anyon...

Re: wtf is happening to w. 39th?!

The neighbors are all worked about an application for a liquor license for a new bar on W 39th in the location that was most recently a thrift store - small building on the SW corner of 39th/Mercier). Apparently the business would build a deck in the back, have yard games and a large outside space. ...

Re: Westport

The effort to privatize some of the streets in Westport was shelved indefinitely yesterday, and the plan to implement a nine month moratorium on development went down in flames.
