Re: STL MLS proposal resurrection

Were there any discussions to repurpose the dome? Not that i'm aware of. In theory that seems logical, but unfortunately the dome would be wildly out of spec of the parameters that MLS is looking for. I would not want to attend a soccer game in a dome. That's where the repurposing comes in - remove...

The large white windows look like doors that might lead to balconies, giving the building an unfinished look.

Three on Johnson Drive + another in Mission should be interesting.
Those addresses - it seems more like two in Mission and two others on Johnson Drive out west.

I'm glad that a brewery is opening in downtown KCK - hopefully it will give some lift to an area that has continued to languish.

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

Austin is getting non stop to Frankfurt via Lufthansa. Don't understand why Austin is getting all these European non stops considering (3rd or 4th nonstop now) they have 2 massive airports within 3.5 hours of each other and pretty sure United and American run flights like every hour to Houston and ...

Re: Westport

The north side of Westport Rd between Holly and Wiedenmann (just north of the old Berbiglia that was torn down for the new QT) is rumored to be torn down for apartments. The owner of the salon in one of the houses said they were being forced to move, and when I asked for more details she said they ...

Re: wtf is happening to w. 39th?!

The locals on the neighborhood association page haven't been happy with a chain coming in, but quite a few people said that IF a chain came it, they wouldn't mind Panera too much since it offers clean food and all that. I'm glad to see something nice go in that location - they should do great with t...

Re: Uptown Shoppes

We can't tear down everything we don't like. Our planet is warming. We have to be cognizant that every building that has been built, or will be built, produces greenhouse gases that added/adds to our problem. Some of greenhouse gases that were produced in building this crappy shopping center are st...

Anyone go to the open house Tuesday? Wondering what kind of feedback was given. Even the local media is low on details.

Re: Uptown Shoppes

Folks on my neighborhood association FB page think it's ridiculous to build a mixed use development like this because they are floundering in places like Austin and on the coasts, leaving 'empty hulls in these luxury developments that nobody can afford to fill.' Other comments were about how the cit...

Re: Uptown Shoppes

Yeah, the retail portion doesn't seem very inviting. Not my favorite, but I'll take it. A little bummed about a hotel not being included in the initial phase - there isn't much around that area except for that shitty America's Inn on Linwood or the new Motel 6 on Main. Does it look like they've made...

Re: Uptown Shoppes

I have a bad feeling about this. Has anyone seen any plans or renderings? I think it's the same plan as what has been discussed previously in this thread - apartments and parking on top of the shops, with boutique hotel in the parking lot. In theory it doesn't sound too bad, but with Larry in charg...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

Why would a small, private school sell land to UMKC when they (Rockhurst) are also burdened with the same lack of available land? Small private colleges like Rockhurst typically have significant endowments and operating budgets and higher tuition than larger public universities. That doesn't mean th...
