Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

Yeah if this could be moved towards the east bottoms that could eventually be the endpoint for a potential north south line with prospect and chesnut. The key is going to be figuring out how to greatly reduce the build cost per mile. And address the constant bottlenecks of freight trains that would...

Re: Waterside Development

What a wasted opportunity - that area was initially proposed to house a Scheel's and hotels that would be connected to Schlitterbahn via boat or lazy river-type attraction. Ending up with Menard's, auto mall, etc.

Re: Fixing KC's lack of downtown parking?

Sorry but there is not consistent signage for every lot and garage downtown that offers public parking.

Re: Fixing KC's lack of downtown parking?

Step 1: install standard signage indicating parking lots/garages and available spaces. Done.

Re: Clay Chastain coming back with light rail

The last time I say Clay gathering petitions he was asking people to 'sign a petition for better transportation' so lots of people signed without asking for details. I hope this one doesn't even get on the ballot.

Re: Hospital Hill activity

There are so many empty lots or abandoned homes in the area - there's no excuse for this.

Re: Xroads James Beard District

I've never been a big fan of Michael Smith or his restaurant (felt more like a retirement home the couple of times I went) and this statement from him in the article pretty much sums it up for me: 'Sometimes you forget you want food to be delicious.' I hope he finds his mojo again with Farina and I'...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Has an announcement ever been made about the 2nd floor space in the old Halls building? It was supposedly built out with a restaurant in mind.

Re: Westport

Anyone attend the survey results meeting hosted by Historic KC last night? Unfortunately, I had a work commitment, but hoping someone from the forum went. Results of the survey are available online https://www.historickansascity.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Westport-Survey-Report-FINAL.11dec17-red...

Re: P&L District: 13th & Main Site Proposal

Would've been nice to have a few years ago - even with the 'prestige' of Shake Shack, these restaurants are now in every neighborhood in every city it seems. Kinda surprised they didn't repurpose the old Chef Burger space in P&L back in the day.

Re: Westport

It was a good meeting; I was also pleasantly surprised. AFAIK nobody has ever amassed the quality or depth of research on Westport as what we saw last night. The data was a little like a Roarschach Test: everyone looked at it and found something to support the ideas they came to the meeting with, w...

Re: Westport

I went to the meeting last night - anyone else? Didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. The meeting was hosted by Gould Evans, who sponsored the study (along with Historic KC and some neighborhood group), and had a wide focus - housing stock, density maps, drainage topography, busi...

One Bon Bon stores if they do expand after restruction,Meijer,Shopko,Target relocate,Walmart,Von Maur's or so on. I can't take it any more. And you do realize that Target is right across the street from Nordstrom? And do you really think that Walmart is a good fit for Oak Park Mall? Come on, man!!

And I'm not too happy that according to the map I'll have to drive from midtown to either KCI, Edgerton or Richards-Geb to catch a pod! That would double my commute time to an hour!!

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

If the rumors are true about Nordstrom it's great for the plaza but bad for OakPark Mall. I'm not sure who they'd be able to lease that large space out to. Yeah and they just lost Banana and something else (Bath and Body?). Plus the Dillard's men's store is a dump. Losing Nordstrom would be a huge ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I'd be pretty bummed if the theater closed, but it's poorly managed and doesn't never seems too busy for what are easily the cheapest tickets in the metro. I'd rather see them just close either the parking garage portion or the portion above Urban Outfitters to leave as a theater. Either way, Cinema...
