Re: We need a new airport!!!

The other day Trump was laughing at the Green New Deal at a rally saying that it would end up with taking away all travel options for Americans and the only way to get from point A to point B would be by expensive-to-build high speed rail. He inferred that we wouldn't be able to fly or drive to plac...

KCMO is also a lot more spread out than all of the suburbs. JoCo is very compact and in a simple grid making for multiple passes very easy. I find it shocking from the furthest point north to furthest south is like 50 some miles. Not many major cities are that long. Maybe LA but that's about it Sor...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

The Cityscene article mentions there will be ten (only!) parking spaces, and they will be on the east side of Walnut, so the rendering isn't necessarily accurate. I'm imagining the same picture during a weekday afternoon, but without 95% of the people. But I don't see stalls or other buildings worki...

SOOOOO glad to see this project still alive!!! It should really pump some life into an otherwise dead part of the neighborhood.

Re: The Official Kansas City Weather Thread

KCUR reported this morning that KC has spent $20 million already on clearing streets this winter - only behind the record $23 million back around 2010 when snow was piled up in the middle of the streets. And in the end it's not like the streets are cleared very well. I understand that for side stree...

Re: Westport Terrace at Manor Square

Maybe the project is dead, but why speculate just because it hasn't started, yet, and because of some plans for part of the old Beaumont? Is there any tangible proof or just guessing?

Anyone else find it odd that they're keeping the owner around for a few years? Seems like a bad idea to keep around someone who struggled with keeping pace with industry trends.

I just dont understand why people are against skyscrappers on the plaza
They're against anything that blocks their views - Parkway Tower residents lead the way on that front.

And people thought the mall was doomed due to all the shootings and Nordstrom's move...

Renderings of the new ballpark: https://www.kansas.com/news/politics-government/article224930425.html Lots of people seemed to react with "if we're spending this much money on a ballpark, we need something special"... not realizing that they're really trying to pull this off on a 13-month schedule ...

Aggieville needs to stay in Manhattan. Can't the dude aspire to providing some options for people who don't want to relive their college glory days every weekend? On a brighter note, a new breakfast-all-day place from Denver, Snooze is coming to Westport at 4140 Broadway. Article says a new building...

Don't know if you have seen this? I have mixed emotions. https://www.worldwar1centennial.org/honor/national-wwi-memorial.html As a memorial, I find it a little underwhelming, but maybe they're still working on it. And I think I'd be intimidated by the stairs if I were elderly or mobility issues. An...

I can't imagine any municipalities wanting to be merged into KC - losing local control of police, increased taxes with less control over local ordinances, etc.

So downtown nears 16K apartments...two years ago. And saying 2,500 people pay between $1000 and $1499 - shouldn't that be 2,500 apartments rent between that amount since more than one person can live in some apartments? I know it's nitpicking, but I have to write stuff like this as part of my job an...

Larkburger is pulling out of KC. 4800 Main is going to look super empty now, I hope a local place comes in, i honestly think its a perfect spot for Q39. We're at a point where gourmet burger joints are a dime a dozen and there's not much you can do to separate yourself from the competition. With th...

I was really hoping for Nichols Road.
I was hoping for Troost. It's named after an actual slave holder.
And would replace the name of a street that's synonymous with segregation in KC.

Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park

It's the access to the front lawn from all directions and lack of things to do that are the problem with the underusage. How can anyone think that if the original designs of the north side of the memorial were implemented that there would not be more use? Why would I take time to walk around the mem...
