Re: Patriot Highway

This project may be a little ambitious, but doesn't it make sense to look at a privately financed tollway as an option for the future? Just because most of us on here are for sensible urban development, it doesn't mean that suburban sprawl will cease and I'd rather have planning and land purchasing ...

Re: wtf is happening to w. 39th?!

NOOO not Po's! Was my favorite Chinese in the city for many years. It will be missed. I've been spending a lot of time out-of-town and hadn't yet noticed it was gone. Blue Koi finally shut em down. Shit. Po's was our favorite, too - ordered take out once a week. But the staff was always bad, and ne...

I went a couple of years ago and had the same experience - very dated interior, completely dead and food was just average. Hoping she can make the Belfry work.

Disheartening. City Council revokes historic designation of the colonnades to allow for them to be torn down for KCUMB parking.

Re: wtf is happening to w. 39th?!

Both Po's Dumpling Bar and DB Coopers have closed in the past couple of weeks. Former Crossland Machinery Company at 1320 W 39th has been renovated (nicely) into the Do Good Co, which a source tells me will be an antique/art gallery for a couple of years and then Aladdin will move into. Also, the Kr...

Would be interesting to see how she would respond if someone got hurt on that property and tried to sue her for damages.

Mary Jo Draper is soliciting residents opposed to this development to attend the City Planning meeting tomorrow as a show of solidarity against it. On the Nextdoor app she claims that 3/4 of residents attending meetings with the developer are in opposition.

Re: New Downtown YMCA

Yeah, at some point I would think it's more cost-efficient to cut your losses on the Lyric site and build new from a surface lot in the East Village. Surely it would be cheaper and quicker to build, not to mention provide some impetus to the EV site that has gone nowhere for years.

A plan to develop the NW corner of 39th/Rainbow (where the strip mall and vietnamese restaurant are) stalls due to opposition from KU Med, the Hall Foundation and Lane4. Plan is for a hotel, but would be competition for the Holiday Inn Express in the Lane4 buildings to the south, and KU Med/Hall Fou...

Re: RideKC Freedom

I applaud the mindset of making it available to everybody, but the premium-turned-subsidy attached to non-disabled riders is a bad idea. The price is not competitive with Uber, and the experience probably won't be either. It would be better to try to get as many people riding it as possible—which m...

They've installed a sign on the top of the building that alerts northbound drivers to parking behind the building - at least it should help a little bit.
