Re: Westport

That raggedy strip of shops and 'spa' needs to go. Does it? Capitalism says that as long as owner of the strip of shops stops is making money off it greater than the return on selling it then it should stick around. You're a genius! Coming at this as someone other than the property owner, I don't k...

In ancient times(pre-1940), adjacent buildings were built to touch. Why is it that these new infill projects are not built to the same standard. Ex. (Courtyard Marriot, City Club, etc)

Re: Westport

Actually, the entire stretch of 39th from Broadway all the way to Warwick is pretty shitty. Regarding the Westport portion, with 39th on the north and Broadway on the west, when is redevelopment going to hit that SE corner of the intersection? That raggedy strip of shops and 'spa' needs to go.

I don't know what this plan is about, but if this is a housing plan, why WOULD businesses like the Sunfresh center, PVCC and Home Depot/Costco be included?

Re: Uptown Theatre district improvements

I'm excited to see what Mr. Scott does with the space. Not really sure the size and layout is conducive to jazz bar, but I really like what he has done with Green Lady and Black Dolphin - great ambiance, good music and no cover. Remember, Krokstrom was the Broadway Jazz Club for a while. But I thoug...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

The Cityscene article on the Hampton Inn mentions that a long-term deal was secured to provide parking in the lot to the south of the hotel between 16th and Nara. Does that realistically take that lot out of consideration for near-term development?

Re: Westport

FedEx is moving its Plaza center into a Westport location. Don’t know where or why however it is planned to open in May. I was at the plaza FedEx location yesterday and mentioned I'd heard they were moving to Westport. The employee claimed they weren't allowed to discuss it. I pushed further, askin...

Re: Westport

My understanding was that the owner of Ragazza would keep the old location and open another restaurant there, but they may have their hands full with the new place and be subleasing to a different restaurant team.

This would be located in East Plaza, but Planet Fitness is opening in the old Apple Market store at 1201 Cleaver II Blvd.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I spoke to the chef before they opened and he said the pork chop was the menu item he was most excited about. I'm intrigued. To me, a pork chop is the least exciting item on a menu (maybe after a turkey burger). I feel just about anything on a restaurant menu is more appealing than the pork chop of...

Re: North Plaza Hotel- 46th and Broadway

I don't see any indication of the flags - not sue if the developer even knows. It seems likely that it would be two brands under the same company. Since there was previously a plan for a north Plaza Hyatt, I think Hotel 1 being Hyatt Regency and Hotel 2 being Hyatt Place could be a good guess. 175 ...

I don't understand who would want to go in that space. That entire block is kind of tough One of the newscasts reported that the owners of Brioche missed the deadline for a lease extension at a lower rate. The owner of that strip of shops has always been ALL business - sucks to lose that business, ...

Hasn't she been super pro airport and this developer? Seems to be my impression. Now Loar is another deal.

So now heather hall says she was being sarcastic about the green new deal. Riiiiight
You're right - it was Loar. I have Shields on my mind for other reasons.

I can't stand seeing Shields on tv news during the airport planning meeting segments - she's so anti-everything and grandstands about how the committee and council are trying to pull one over on everyone.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

The other day Trump was laughing at the Green New Deal at a rally saying that it would end up with taking away all travel options for Americans and the only way to get from point A to point B would be by expensive-to-build high speed rail. He inferred that we wouldn't be able to fly or drive to plac...

KCMO is also a lot more spread out than all of the suburbs. JoCo is very compact and in a simple grid making for multiple passes very easy. I find it shocking from the furthest point north to furthest south is like 50 some miles. Not many major cities are that long. Maybe LA but that's about it Sor...
