Re: 1900 Grand Blvd

Ugh - I know it fills a need, blah blah blah, but unless those panels light up or spit out money, that's pretty bad.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

So for the plaza stop, northbound has a dedicated bus lane and shelters. What about southbound? At the Plaza stop, both lanes of the streetcar and the dedicated bus lanes will be on the east side of Main in a transit plaza. It shows that in the rendering if you take another look. My question is whe...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Construction begins on Nordstrom with the fencing off of the construction area and part of the parking garage. Should be a cluster during Plaza Art Fair, with the only entrances on 47th and the side street (Summit?). https://www.kansascity.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/cityscape/article2301670...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

The article mentions that the group didn't want the images released to the public because they needed 'refinement' so hopefully there is still some room for improvement, like for full length awnings. Also, bench seating for streetcars only faces east - should be staggered between NB and SB streetcars.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

So it appears that there are absolutely no prospects in the pipeline for the East Village. Now we have to wait an additional couple of years for the ballpark option to play out before any other development to occur? And to chime in on the Penn Valley Park location, there are zero opportunities for s...

I bet the majority of people who normally show up to wander around won't even know that changes were coming.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Lunetta's website has a page referencing a downtown market in KC. Are they tapped to design the proposed market on the west side of River Market?

This project will be transformative - this block has been a complete eyesore for as long as I can remember. I can't believe they still have the sign for Silo (electronics).

Evicted because they are over $760,000 in debt for failing to pay rent and utilities. Why would another city spend tens of millions of dollars to build a new stadium if they aren't succeeding in a fairly new stadium? They should move to Topeka

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I haven't heard of trouble with groups of teens roaming the Plaza at all this summer, but maybe it's just being kept out of the media or I've been too busy to pay attention. I still won't go on a Saturday night due to bad experiences the past few years. But with the shooting in the Sheraton Suites l...

^Is this the older playground by the Tennis Courts or the new one with ZipLine? Wonder if the trash is making its way on the hiking trails at Roanoake. I really love those trails and our kids love it. The trash really pisses me off, its only a matter of time before we start seeing needles The older...

Not sure where to put this but has anyone noticed more homeless people this summer? I am seeing larger groups living and roaming together, there is a decent sized camp under the bridge at West Pennway and 35. I am seeing more camps being built up around Penn Valley Park. The guy at Costco who waves...

The February article from KCUR states that more than 50 journalists at The Kansas City Star were offered early retirement packages and roughly half accepted. It then goes on to describe a newsroom with "several score" of journalists remaining (so let's say 70 -- halfway between three score and four...

Re: Layoffs at The Star

Was visiting my parents in Wichita last month and the Monday paper that was delivered was a large, double page spread with a double-sided single page in the middle. Six pages, with about 1/3 ads. The sports section directed readers to the digital platform for both articles and scores. And the Saturd...
