Re: 2019 Mayor/Council Elections

I have doubts that Lucas will be able to deliver on reducing crime and turning around the East Side when those efforts have never gone very far before, but I'll get behind him! I don't see Lucas as anti-development, but more development aimed at the right areas (i.e. East Side). He came to speak at ...

Re: Clay Chastain coming back with light rail

Last time they (Clay himself!) approached me to sign a petition he was asking people if they would sign 'to support better public transportation and parks' and people signed without reading or asking questions.

I haven't followed the Shulte issue very closely, but know that it was brought up quite often during interviews over the election cycle. What exactly is he doing that is causing the problem?

Re: KC in TV and Movies

Don't understand why this is being made into something like 'they're filming another season here.' They filmed all episodes at the same time, just split half between seasons 3 and 4. Wonder if they got incentives for two seasons or just one? Also, if anyone has watched any of Season 3, they have the...

Re: OFFICIAL - East Village

It's astounding that EVERY part of the central business district from the river to 31st, West Side to Troost has seen new development over the past decade while this section of downtown continues to languish. Wonder what would've happened if the area had remained under the hands of multiple property...

Re: Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort

I think it's been obvious for a year that Schlitterbahn has no interest in re-opening the park. It won't open this year at all and will probably re-open under new ownership (possibly as a city owned waterpark) the following year. If it sits vacant more than a year, it will likely be torn down compl...

My home in Volker had an increased assessment of 36% - I assume most everyone else saw similar increases or is it just me that got the shock?

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

doesn't streetcar to the riverfront fix that? less parking needed right next to it. can park along streetcar line wherever and get dropped off as close or closer to the festival than the parking spot would have been. plus people that live there can hop on the streetcar to get out to grocery store o...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

Another issue with the streetcar to the riverfront is that the new developments drastically reduce the number of parking spaces for festivals at Berkley. Being able to take the streetcar even to River Market has been a huge help, but we unfortunately had to drive this year (we now have a one-year-ol...

Re: Westport

3 stories along 39th street and the western half of 43rd is too restrictive. "Neighborhood zone" on 39th consists of car washes, a body shop, dilapadated 60s era professional office buildings. Nothing worth preserving architecturally or scale-wise. They did make the proposal to replace one of the c...

Maybe the gondolas will be up and running by then

At least the organizers will have Vegas, Cleveland and the 2022 city to use to tweak the plans on what did and didn't work previously.

Re: Bringing Conventions to Kansas City

And given your opinion, you don't think anyone would've gone to Nashville because you wouldn't want to go? Probably half the people who would attend the draft party are solely interested in the party and not the actual draft. And yet there are plenty of opportunities in KC for fan fest-type activiti...

Re: Bringing Conventions to Kansas City

Yeah we all saw Nashville attendance at the draft. Don't expect that here. Why not? This event has been growing since it moved out of NYC, and I bet there will be just as many people in Vegas next year. If reports are true and Cleveland gets it in 2021, there are six teams within a couple hours' dr...

Re: Porchfest

I saw on social media (can't remember where) that it was being rescheduled to Sunday because of the weather, but when I drove through Valentine on Saturday it looked like it was going on - food trucks, signs, people walking around. So there was probably some confusion that prevented larger attendance.
