Kansas Side Breweries

Kansas passed a law earlier this year that made it easier to open microbreweries. It looks like there is a wave of breweries that are planning to open in response. From Joyce at the Star: ▪ Fields & Ivy Brewery, 706 E. 23rd St., Lawrence. March 2019. ▪ Limitless Brewing, Widmer Place, 9765 Widmer Ro...

Some internet commenter is probably already screaming about this being a deep state conspiracy to elect Jolie Justus empress of Kansas City.
You heard that too?

Re: Parlor - 1707 Locust

I don't think you're really tipping in exchange for any kind of service. Unfortunately it's more like a donation to subsidize the sub-living wages of the American service industry. I associate "sub-living wages of the American service industry" with actual servers that are paid under $4/hour becaus...

Re: Parlor - 1707 Locust

Another quibble I have is related to tipping. This isn't just a Parlor thing, tipping for counter service has now become an industry wide thing. Why am I being prompted to tip for counter service? Worse at Parlor because suggested tips on the register start at 20% and go to 30%. What service am I re...

Re: Parlor - 1707 Locust

It's a unique product for downtown to have. If it fails, would think due to high prices rather than the food/vibe of place. Liked the outdoor deck most. .. Given there are 7 kitchens, would expect a rotation every 6 months but not whole place going under quickly. Could be wrong - there's a lot to c...

Yeah. The couple that owns the building on the North West corner of Missouri & Troost is subdividing the parcel to build 5 row houses. If you're familiar with the area- It will replace that old pool

Re: 1800 Walnut

That is a sexy rendering. My concerns about Walnut's street level are tiny in comparison to my overall enthusiasm for this project. Glad it is getting to construction so fast. It is really nice to see a project like this in KC.

Wow, that article was terribly written. Staff cuts at the Star.
They mostly just tweet stuff now and call it good.
And then retweet each other and talk about how important local journalism is and how lucky we are to have them.

Re: H&R Block's Second Tower?

I'll correct my statement and say <200 parking spaces are built in the existing garage and they all belong to the Hotel President. The footprint is ready for like another 700 spaces on top of the existing garage.

Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

Everybody keeps saying "no parking" this hotel is being built next to an underutilized garage. I'm sure it will use/share that garage. Valet could even use the PAC garage. If that garage was not there, this hotel would likely have it's own parking structure which would probably make the project fin...

McManus announced they scrapped The GO Bond as a proposed funding source for the aquarium.

Apparently, they will continue look for some other way the city can support the effort.
