So you could basically cover the whole thing with 1/8 cent sales tax or levy a 1/4 cent sales tax and expand service to cover ant...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

If the casino isn't chipping in for fully funding the dedicated stop then this should be killed immediately. A connection to factory jobs in the east bottoms would be beneficial if the system is also expanded to more working class neighborhoods. I didn't think about that, and you're right, that wou...

Re: The Rabbit Hole KC- The World's First Explorastorium

Rabbit Hole has officially found a home in NKC. Located at 919 E. 14th Ave. They said they looked all over Xroads and DT, but were priced out. What an utter shame they couldn't make it work in East Xroads, but how awesome for NKC! https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2018/02/09/explor-a-stori...

Also, Shields is an at-large candidate. If I recall, Shields lost the vote in-district, but won overwhelmingly the vote outside the district- especially on the east side.

Bayer is south of the river

Close enough. A couple blocks south. Still only a few minutes drive for most northlanders.

Re: Troost developments

It was definitely a point of contention when this project was added to the list. At least it is for reconstruction of streets, sidewalks, and sewers, though. It just goes to show you how over extended the city is on all of its "obligations". But I'm sure if we just build more single family...

Re: Troost developments

So the city has been sitting on the obligation to pay for improvements for 20 years? Correct. More or less. As you'll recall, the city's housing program went into federal receivership because of the city led SNAFU related to redeveloping this area. To exit receivership, A judge determined what the ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Interesting article on cnbc about malls fighting for retailers. They spend a significant amount of the article on the recent announcement by Nordstrom to move to the plaza. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/02/05/in-a-cutthroat-retail-environment-malls-are-stealing-tenants.html It is definitely interesting...
