Re: Investor Group Adds Carnival Building to Portfolio

Wonder how they can make that first floor accessible for retail with that major flight of steps at the corner? I work a block north of here and had wondered the same. I looked the other day while walking by and noticed there is another door to what appears to be a street level vestibule with an ele...

Re: OFFICIAL - Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

I give it +5 points for no tacky rooftop signage. Hopefully they are including some architectural lighting. Agreed. Rooftop signs are glorified billboards and are especially egregious when they distract from architecture As a counterpoint, I always enjoy visiting other cities and learning from sign...

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-between

I have heard chatter that companies are interviewing for construction of a large high rise crown center office project. I am assuming it’s the same project as previously mentioned here earlier this summer, and if so, it seems like a good sign that it might be progressing beyond “wishful thinking” re...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand

I’m going to stick my neck out here and say that honestly, I think this will be a big asset to P&L and downtown as a whole. Since the downtown (commerce building) Plexpod is no longer happening from what I understand, won’t this be the only substantial coworking space in the CBD? Sure, there mig...

According to this article, St. Louis will be getting phase 2 of Cordish's Ballpark Village, which will include a 29 story apartment building and "the first new "Class A" office building in downtown since the 1980's." http://www.ksdk.com/news/local/cardinals-announce-220-million-s...

Re: Troost developments

I work closely with a nonprofit who has been attempting to buy and rehab the old Firestone building at Linwood and Troost (the "Great Deals" building on the NE corner) to use as its headquarters. They were originally looking to relocate from their current non-KCMO HQ by November, but in ne...

Re: 200 block W Gregory? (Old Brandsmart)

Saw this article online tonight even though it's a few months old:
http://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/old ... ins-vacant

I have seen an uptick in activity over the last 6 months. Hopefully the activity along 63rd is acting as a catalyst for Abnos to get this project going.

Re: Church of the Resurrection Downtown Campus

I'm a Redeemer member. The culture there is definitely extremely pro-urban core. A huge percentage of the church membership lives in neighborhoods like Squier Park, Hyde Park, Colemand Highlands, etc. As a Waldo resident, I often feel like I'm not close enough to the core to be considered a true Kan...

Re: Troost developments

He did specifically say all four corners and implied that that if it's not already a done deal, it would be very soon. He is very connected with local development and is behind some of the non-MAC developments on Armour, so hopefully he's right!

Re: Troost developments

Not sure if this has been mentioned here or not, but I heard from a good source today (who told me "It wasn't me who told you this, but...") that apparently MAC Properties now owns all four corners of Armour & Troost. That seems like extremely good news.

Can You Spot VisitKC's Photoshop Cheat?

Re: New Convention Hotel

Could the tower above the L-shaped base (which could match the 22 stories reported) be a possible expansion? Not proposed or planned, just possible. That seems unlikely to me. Even if one window = one hotel room on the bottom half, it looks like that would max out close to 430ish rooms (12 floors x...

Re: New Convention Hotel

Even bigger question... What's being built in the parking lot in the SE corner at 16th and Baltimore, right behind Anton's?? Does this model builder know something we all don't know? 8-[ It is strange that they would put that mystery building there and exclude the hotel currently under construction...

Someone tweeted a photo of a scale mode which suggests height in renderings is accurate =D>

Pretty sure that's the same rendering, jus skewed. Notice how it used to be vertical and they tried to cram it into a horizontal space.

Re: New Convention Hotel

I walked by the site today and for what it's worth, it looked like ground level at that site is about level with the top of the 4th floor of the P&L Building, so there is a natural height advantage of about 4 stories that comes into play when looking at the renderings.

Re: New Convention Hotel

I know this technically isn't on topic, but I've just got to say... this is fun. I moved to KC in 2007 when the city seemed to be building a ton of momentum marked by tower cranes everywhere (Spring Center, P&L District, PAC, IRS Building, Fed Reserve, etc.). Then the recession (and even worse, ...
