Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)

The dome was restored but it will not be lit. Bizarre. I can't imagine what the logic was there. But yeah, I'm happy they had the forethought to maintain the ornamentation and such. I could picture the current decor going out of style someday, and maybe then they can bring it closer to how it looke...

Re: Postcards From the Edge of Time

Found these at a gas station and wanted to share. They look to be from the 80s. Can't believe they never got any newer postcards in stock, but at the same time I'm glad they were there for the taking. Note how 1kcp is unfinished in the first shot. You can also kinda make out the yellow paint on oak ...

Grand ave temple with its accompanying office tower is one of my favorite downtown building groupings. Would be tragic to see anything bad happen to them

Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)

I ate here last night. Pretty sureal experience. We ate in the bar side in a booth and ordered off the restraunt menu. Food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Seemed busy. Aside from the historic stuff, the decor is pretty wild, with it all being art pieces and such. The bar side felt somew...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

There are plenty of places surrounding each site that could hold a parking garage. I just didn't include it because I thought of it as a given and didn't think it would be particularly interesting to show. I still maintain that there just shouldn't be a downtown stadium at all. I only put this toget...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

I've been thinking a lot about the downtown stadium ideas, in particular having it near 18th and Vine. The city's been struggling for years to get that area working and has poured loads of money into promoting it, so they have a vested interest in its success. A stadium would serve as an anchor. It ...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

Denny's location would certainly provide the most dramatic site, and I'm assuming would enable a more wild design than the rather subdued initial renderings for the site on 17/Broadway. Also might provide an impetus for traffic calming or large crosswalk/light Broadway. The Denny's Conservatory of ...

Not sure when this renovation finished, but I'm glad it finally did. Seems like it took forever. Well worth it though. One of my favorite buildings in the city.

If my calculations are correct, absolutely nothing of importance will be obscured by this building when viewed from liberty memorial.

Re: "Flashcube" Building - 720 Main

I've been told the restoration will require the replacement of all windows....so virtually the entire exterior of the building. Of course, they can't take the opportunity to replace it with a cladding that might be more suitable for apartments, because then they wouldn't get historic tax credits. Fo...

I'm out of the loop with the streetcar stuff...how many more votes until they get the okay to start construction? Or was this the last vote?
