Re: The KC City Flag

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the heart motif. It makes me think of valentines day more than the heartland. I guess that's why I'm actually okay with the fountain design. It isn't blatantly a heart.
I do like the two bars for the rivers though.

Re: The KC City Flag

I mashed the KC logo with some art deco line art I found and played around with the colors. https://i.imgur.com/AGOQea7.png https://i.imgur.com/yAAmd7F.png https://i.imgur.com/xXestNz.png https://i.imgur.com/4lohsmu.png I didn't mean for them to look so MU/KU related. If anyone has any color ideas t...

Re: The KC City Flag

Something I recently noticed about the fountain that made me like it a bit more was that it actually resembles a heart, with the archs of the water and the point on the bottom. I think that's a much more subtle reference to the heartland than a big heart. I say, get rid of the text and the French co...

Re: Union Station

In other news, Science City got a new logo and is developing early childhood exhibits with the help of a Boston museum. The rail experience exhibit will also be renovated. http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article178087746.html The new logo looks a bit more sophisticated. http://www.kansascity.co...

Re: Union Station

I think you can go through the science city store too. It's still a bummer that you can't go under the arch as often, but renting out that space is helping fund the building, so I don't have too much of an issue with it, especially if it's paying for the restoration of the facade.

So, are there any retail-type businesses in the building, or is it all office space?

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

I’ve been to most every baseball stadium and this is not correct. If they are placed in an area that has most any kind of other buildings nearby they almost always spur additional development. Of course, if placed in the middle of nowhere with nothing else around, they are not sufficient enough by ...

Re: One Kansas City Place

I was looking through old posts on this thread, and they were mentioning that there was a Winsteads and a food court, but that was over a decade ago. What exactly is in this building now? I've never been inside, and the whole building looks kind of mysterious, so it's gotten me curious.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

Arrowhead and Royals Stadium have been at I70/I435 for decades and have totally failed to spur any development in that area outside of the Adams Mark Hotel and a couple of other small hotels. I've always thought spurring development requires a critical mass that the stadiums on there own cannot pro...

Check out Edgemoor’s design for the KCI single terminal http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article177223371.html Looks good They're called conceptual images for a reason. I'll put $100 on it right now that if this passes, the final product will look NOTHING like these images. Realit...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

I worry about the new terminal is like a wall and really reduces my views of the planes from a distance. I also feel like the glass quality could be better. I personally think a nice black tented glass would enhance the look and provide a contrast with surrounding concrete runways and green fields....

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

Here's my two cents. I think Kauffman should be maintained for as long as possible. Not only is it in excellent shape, but it, along with arrowhead, are pieces of sports history and beautiful examples of space-age Googie architecture. I think moving out of it, or, God forbid, tearing it down, would ...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

How would you even widen a bridge like this? The metal frame is in the way. I feel like I'm missing something here. You do it during the planned replacement bridge project. Maybe I was reading his posts wrong, but it seemed like NorthOak was suggesting maintaining the current bridge but somehow als...

Re: Should Jackson Co. relocate the Correctional Facility?

I'll say this and drop the topic; What if somebody is falsely convicted for a crime and put to death? If it's discovered they were innocent, it's too late. They're dead. It's just too permanent.
