KC_JAYHAWK wrote:Nice. Oak Tower would look so much better if they took all that shit off the roof, or surrounded it with an Art Deco wall, similar to Municipal Auditorium.

Best case scenario would be getting all the cladding off to show the original gothic detail.

I hope they get those doors fixed up. Is there a long-term plan for it?

Re: Oak Tower

Here are some more interesting images I found, including what it looked like before the upper half was added. Most are pulled from http://www.kchistory.org, which has a stunning amount of great old photos. I highly recommend a look. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0324/8961/products/57_60da1bae-aa...

City Hall and Observation Deck

Went to the top of city hall to get some pictures. Gorgeous building, and what an incredible feature! It seems like I've read that edgemoor was planning on repurposing one of the old terminals

I'm glad it's in a more prominent spot. I don't think many people paid attention to it when it was behind union station.

Re: OFFICIAL - Fairfax Lofts/Hotel Indigo (former Brookfield Building)

why did building owners ever put that facade on? Cheaper to maintain? Style? Yeah, probably the same deal as with oak tower. Terra cotta gets dirty pretty easily and needs maintenance, and they probably saw the modern cladding as being more stylish. They might have also been trying to fit in with c...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

This image is not from edgemoor...... You're right. I've tried to figure out where this image originated, but I can only ever find it in articles, none of which say where it came from. My best guess is that city hall made it to promote the idea of a new airport. It's been floating around since 2013...
