Re: Are apartment rental costs too high downtown?

I feel like rents are high, so they must be unsustainable. Data showing otherwise be damned!!

Is the term midwest to broad?

Do you guys think the term Midwest is to broad? I find that Kansas City seems to have little in common with the rest of the Midwest. I feel like the midwest should be split up into smaller sections that more accurately reflect its problem. I feel like we should be called the Heartland along with Oma...

I would love to see some dining options over there along with the retail. That area has retail, a bar, a coffee shop, and cvs seems like its due for a dining option.

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

I think something that we could maybe utilize to our benefit is drafting a mission statement as a city that emphasizes our commitment to developing a city of the future. Let them know that we are committed irregardless of whether they come or not to making ourselves into a city that embraces future ...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

I definitely agree with the twenty percent. I believe that transit should reach as many people as possible I just meant now that we are collecting data on the riders expand the system for the twenty percent of the city who use it often then use supplemental routes to connect. The key is to not pursu...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

Maybe something like telling the northland okay you can zone everything but this 1 mile squared trail however you want "the market dictates I.e. NIMBYs allow." However this land will necessitate any new development to follow a grid pattern have a minimum density and give preference to mult...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

The twenty percent that would utilize 80% of the rides would most likely be those that both live and work along the suggested route

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't 80-20 generally a business term to denote that typically 80% of a companies business is derived from 20% of its customers. Not that I don't think it's applicable. I would say instead of connecting 80% with all of the above aforementioned focus on the twenty percent ...

Re: Independence Ave MAX

Can we have a max line that combines north oak and main, and just goes straight to the airport? you mean exactly like a previous light rail plan? no! lol. What about a rapid service bus from the airport to downtown with only those two stops. See if the hotels will pony up cash. I don't know about e...

If we came up with a competent bid, even if Amazon didn't choose us it would show we are serious. Might convince another city to choose us

Ugh this is such a waste of a good building. I always imagined it as a sort of small local retail Mecca. Also not trying to be a dick, but since I've started paying attention historic kc hasent fought for a single building on the east side. But they did fight for a tennis court for like three years....

I noticed that they were doing work on one of the retail spaces in this building when I looked it up it had Walgreens listed. There aren't any signs outside. Does anyone know if there used to be a Walgreens there or will this be a new feature?

Re: Cities in the future in regards to automation

I'm not sure I don't doubt that employment will go away anytime soon. I think that the propensity and or the expectation that the average joe will be able to meaningfully contribute to the workforce will most certainly end in our lifetimes. I think that people are pointing to the great depression an...
