3537 Broadway

I noticed that they were doing work on one of the retail spaces in this building when I looked it up it had Walgreens listed. There aren't any signs outside. Does anyone know if there used to be a Walgreens there or will this be a new feature?

Re: Cities in the future in regards to automation

I'm not sure I don't doubt that employment will go away anytime soon. I think that the propensity and or the expectation that the average joe will be able to meaningfully contribute to the workforce will most certainly end in our lifetimes. I think that people are pointing to the great depression an...

Re: Three Light

This may seem like a dumb question, but would it be prohibitively expensive to install balconies on 2 light post cap?

Re: Cities in the future in regards to automation

Yeah I think unfortunately automation is only thought of if it totally gets rid of a job, however more efficiency can have just as much as an impact. Like sure the old version of the computers job wasn't entirely automated you still have to input the equations. But I would argue one person taking ov...

Re: Cities in the future in regards to automation

I don't think many people politicians have given it serious thought, probably hoping it doesn't hit till they leave office

Re: Cities in the future in regards to automation

I'm not disagreeing, I also think before full blown crisis point hits. 10-20 years or something like that (eventually implementation of UBI of that happens) people will flock to the places that still do have jobs. I guess what I was wondering is there a way we can prepare our city for these changes,...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

So what if we actually did try to secede. We could set our own tax rate which could be lower since we aren't paying for rural areas and god knows what. And enticed the suburbs to come over for lower taxes. Then we convince the republicans to do it because they will be able to finally consolidate the...

Re: Parkville

That's amazing, I always enjoyed growing up there, from what I remember they were very anti new development. I wonder if the Kansas City part of the park hill school district will get new development, or if Parkville will allow a lot more.

Re: Smart City Project

Agreed! I think this could, if done well could produce a huge advantage for Kansas City. These sorts of things always seem sort of clumsy and hard to grasp at first, however over time can come to seem like no brainers. If we consider the purpose of a city is to maximize the benefit for its residents...

Re: Rankings, lists, and such

Agreed, I think we definitely have the capability to reach hot market status, but we will have to be Dillingent and willing to get there. On the other hand I think we should realize we are extremely lucky to be anywhere near that point, as the rest of the Midwest is struggling to retain their own po...

Re: Rankings, lists, and such

If we are able to mantain that, and if it correlates with a 3%. Growth in Kansas City proper as well we should easily hit 500k pop before 2020 and 2,350,000 in the metro.

I think both would be great. Speaking of which I'm surprised no one has tried to get a bar next to kcub especially since the Pendleton arts block will be built right there as well. Not to mention paseo gateway.

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

Kind of what I was talking about with the transportation aspect, was that if you could establish a small tax in each county, or a multi county transportation tax, then we are no longer waiting around to see if the Feds will hand us the rest of the money. At that point anyone city or district within ...

What about instead of three or four light, can we petition for them to be called red light blue light?
