Re: SomeraRoad West Bottoms District
Honestly, if the other new buildings followed a similar design style to the corner of the Weld Wheel replacement, I’d be a bit happier. It has more brickwork to it than the elevations made it seem. The cream color is also a nice choice. Contrasts nicely with the red brick of the neighborhood.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Regarding the silence from all but one city council member about the Jackson County vote and the downtown stadium, I think a majority of City Council would vote to approve it. Not sure what the funding plan would be, but that’s what talks are for. I could see Jonathan Duncan and Melissa Robinson bei...

Latest renderings, including the first formal of the Weld Wheel replacement (to be known as "The Henning"). https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53657024946_e91ca0a68b_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53657249958_dd81171a14_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53657025146_4206...

Re: Four Light
I can't believe they have not even released a rendering for this. Downtown KC needs a tower crane! There will be two up soon enough. One for 1818 Main and the second for 3rd and Grand. Another three could go up if their respective projects start this year (New UMKC Building on Hospital Hill, Atlas ...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Royals are now first in the AL Central and 2nd in the entire American League behind the Yankees. It’s early, I know. But not a bad start to the season.
Their winning streak was broken yesterday, but they got a win today. Currently 10 wins-5 losses.

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Because the Star Printing Press is still on the mind of folks, I was told that it was recently considered a contender for a Target. That idea is more likely than not dead at this point. If people would like for it to be kept, I think you should demolish the southern half and keep the northern glass ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I’m not opposed to East Village. I’d like for the stadium to go there. I’ve said for a while now, but the issues with it make me think it’ll be a heavier lift than the Crossroads site. If the team, and city, can get something done, then do it. Except EC literally failed a public vote. Not sure how ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I'm sure everyone is surprised, but I'm still down with North Loop!!! Move the 670 park donations to the plan re-establishing the street grid, build directly on the streetcar line and build the garages where the roadway is now before backfilling for buildings on the grid. Between two major highways...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the Royals play well against the Mets and White Sox (next 6 games), the stands better be more full for the home stand against the Orioles.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
All that sounds nice, but that leaves the elephant in the room: the Federal Government.
Unless that vacate the building at 9th and Locust (eliminating their usage of the garage at 10th and Cherry) and they hire more security guards for the Bolling Federal Building, then the stadium is a non-starter.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
East Village is worse than Crossroads because you’re evicting residents of two affordable housing buildings, need to vacate many more streets, and have to contend with the Feds. If you think KCTenants was pissed about crossroads, you should see them if East Village was brought up.

Slightly off-topic, but St. Louis peeps, what's the story here: https://twitter.com/unusual_whales/status/1778479545613439455 In short, SomeraRoad bought it previously. Worked on a redevelopment plan with Advantes Group (a small local developer). Ended up getting incentives lined up for a mixed-use...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Royals are whooping Houston’s ass in the last game of this series. Bottom of the 1st: 9 runs. And how many people are there? I had a conversation with someone here I won't name, but they can if they want. What if you could just walk in to a game? Sit at a bar and watch over lunch. It's time to reth...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
It would be wrong to keep the Royals at TSC. Even with a streetcar connection, the suburban minded folks would still control what happens by demanding parking remain, practically eliminating the Royals chances of a mixed-use development next to the stadium. Building on the other side of 70 is not su...
