Looks more like a hotel now because of the windows or maybe they are doing that to make it fit in with the surroundings better. Either way, good to see some more height added to this.

Looks to be of decent quality. The balconies are a nice touch. The only thing I have a problem with is the white cement board/stucco. Looks like it could've been of a darker color but it will look fine.

Re: On-going downtown development projects

Some are easily impressed. Infill is nice in lieu of height. Don't get me wrong, Downtown KC is seeing some nice infill. I'm just saying those two photos are nearly identical. You would have to be a development nerd to really find the differences without studying the photos and even then, there are...

Re: City Center Square for sale

Was LightWell the name of a restaurant on top of the short section? They keep talking about reopening the LIghtWell. Looks open to me if actually a lower case lightwell. I think it's just the developer's name, right? No clue, really. The should rebrand it the "We don't want to pay 95% of our proper...

Re: 1800 Walnut

Any foundation work yet on this one? Moving a lot of dirt right now. Crane should be up soon, as they've got a sidewalk closure on Walnut for it. Thanks for the update. As many on here know, I live in STL and don't come over to KC all the time to check in on this stuff. Looking forward to it rising...

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

Not sure if this includes anything new, but this description is on BNIM's website. Strata is 260,000 square feet and 16 stories of environmentally responsible, energy efficient, high-performance office design. This Class A Office Building takes advantage of an urban infill site currently occupied by...

Re: Politics

It got me to thinking and was wondering if Springfield will eventually overtake the Missouri Side of KC as the 2nd Missouri Metro in terms of importance, state funding, political influence, etc or has it already gotten to that point? The Springfield metro is reaching the 600,000 range, the region i...

Unsure if this has been posted yet -- VR tour of what the finished hotel will look like.
Neat! If they slowed it down a little bit, I wouldn't be so dizzy.

This seems to be a trend for Copaken. Arterra underwent a similar cheapening at the very last minute as well.
Hopefully Strata doesn't get revised since Copaken has their hand in it.

Re: 1800 Walnut

It appears that the orange/copper façade was kicked out for silver. Some balconies were also eliminated. AND the right side of the building lost it's wavy effect. Hopefully the stepping side is a stunner since this project's "wow" factor greatly diminished in my mind. At least they are making sure w...

two lots down, two to go.
Even though I don't live in KC, I was told that a residential proposal came and went for the parking lot across 16th from this. Not sure why it went away. It may have been mentioned on here but I was told in more detail by someone familiar with it.

Why do they name all them buildings Light? It is getting real old. Why not mix it up, like Sky, or Earth.
I finally agree with you on something here. I guess Cordish is just lazy but this specific tower will be called "Strata" which Is a welcome change from "Light".

This handy little poster gives you a cool VR experience if you download an app. I took screenshots of what it shows you (One Cardinal Way). It also has this new rendering. I personally like they way it looks from this angle. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4872/32649137838_6419873715_o.png https://fa...

Sure hope they can unfill that! They most likely can. As similar thing was done here in St. Louis in the 1920s when the atrium was filled in at 705 Olive. Now, the building has reopened as a hotel and the Atrium has returned. Before (dingy and dark) https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5533/12059392155_f...
