The Council COULD decide not to accept the committee's recommendation.
Alas, might be moot if voters snub their nose in two months time.

Re: We need a new airport!!!
I think everyone is being played here.
Kansas isn't getting the airport unless the northlanders royally screw things up.
I'm hopeful that Kansas City, Mo. rebuilds KCI not because they are being forced to because of Kansas, but because it's the right thing to do regardless.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
I think the 47 Madison project will help spur discussion of a grocery/CVS type store in the Plaza area.
Remember, there's still the old Nelle Peters Apartments sitting idle off of Summit. Only thing there is a random sidewalk splitting the lot!

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
This thread has become so oddly specific that we're advocating for an Orange Julius? Perhaps its the single dude in me, but the Plaza hosting a B&H-type store - it would work perfect in the old Halls space but I think Nike's got that space - somewhere on the Plaza would be a nice draw. As a Plaz...

Re: Whole Foods mixed-use project @ 51/Oak
My quick two cents on Nichols and the Plaza and then we can go back to talking about how the Whole Foods mixed-use project at 51st and Oak would never have passed in West Plaza or Plaza/Westport Hill: The ultimate piece of irony involving J.C. Nichols, his racial shortcomings and the Plaza is that, ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
So, um, the announcement of two additional train units being ordered for the first district kinda mutes the argument that the delay in expansion isn't too big a deal due to the lack of availability of additional trains, no?

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Over time, I think this council trends even more cautious on support for projects such as streetcar that move things forward; the olive branch to the City Council to let them pursue their $800-million-ish general obligation infrastructure proposal next Spring without the streetcar TDD on any ballot ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Lots of tax discussions about today's announcement. Yikes. I just wanted to come on to say that expanding the streetcar south is 1) Great; 2) What's the best way to take it south immediately south of Union Station? There's really no good way to go south from there. Would a jog to the east to capture...

Re: GSA considers big office complex downtown
Three observations: 1) This surely isn't as poor a decision from the GSA as the decision they made in last few years to move the EPA from what was basically a custom building in downtown KCK to a suburban office park in Lenexa. 2) if these types of decisions are being driven in part by policy makers...

Re: Atlanta Braves ditch Turner Field for suburban plan
The Braves put together a "informative" website outlining the details of their plan http://www.HomeoftheBraves.com , including the spiffy map showing there their tickets live. I'd be interested in the Royals doing the same thing. Surely it would show a bias toward Johnson County? But reall...

Atlanta Braves ditch Turner Field for suburban plan
http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/baseball/braves-plan-to-build-new-stadium-in-cobb/nbpNQ/ Pretty amazing on really all sides of the issue: 1) That government and team officials were able to keep quiet about the proposal for so long 2) Team says that demographics of ticket buyers are closer to the new...

Re: Designing intersections without traffic control devices
As someone who recently lived two years downtown and just over to the Plaza, just in the first week living and walking on the Plaza, it's been a night/day difference in the treatment of pedestrians. Even in the River Market area, which IMO is set up more like a small village, the pedestrians are sti...

Designing intersections without traffic control devices
Hey gang! Been a long time since I've posted, but excited to get back in the flow of following posts on the forum. I came across a story on Atlantic Cities today about an intersection in England where engineers removed nearly all formal traffic control (stop lights, road markings) in an effort to re...

Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
That was what I was thinking. If schliterbaughn moves forward with their River Walk then I think that is were full price retail stores will choose to locate or perhaps relocate. So the strategy makes since. Regardless how you spell it, it's now official that Schlitterbahn is a fraud. Worlds of Fun ...
