Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)

Had dinner at the bar at 21C Savoy Friday - great experience. There was a nice crowd; the hotel and restaurant were surprisingly lively - a good sign. Wife and I split a caesar salad, mussels, steak frites and a couple bacon-wrapped cherry peppers. All quite good, especially the peppers (bar apps ar...

They've done Miracle pop-ups the last couple of years in STL. Seems...trending, I guess. Would check it out.

Glad to see the Muelbach bar get some use!

Re: OFFICIAL - Crossroads Hotel (2107 Central)

Thanks for the pics, the atrium looks fantastic. Surely Johnny Lazia was the influence for restaurant name. The rooftop has sweeping views and should be great hangout spot, though a more focused theme for the hotel overall might have been appreciated. Not 100% sure about an Italian restaurant with L...

Re: Lumi Neon Museum Kansas City

Thanks for posting Fang. I love this idea, and hope it comes to fruition with a wide variety of signs in an interesting, central-ish location (maybe Electric Park in the East Bottoms?). I've always wanted to visit The Neon Museum in Las Vegas (https://www.neonmuseum.org/), which does both self-guide...

Re: Drury Plaza Hotel

Yeah, this is bad. It's nice we're at a place where we can turn up our noses to a 10-story hotel east of Grand downtown, but at minimum, this should receive zero incentives. It's right next to Sprint Center! A 2-story parking garage with no retail wrap! A Chesterfield Mall generic design! Hoping thi...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

Armour looks and functions wonderfully after the update to parking protected bike lanes. Hope it becomes the model for other streets going forward. Also like the small dog park MAC added on the vacant lot just north of Armour/Gillham. Seems to be trending and a good use of vacant land in a dense are...

I'd love to see something more like Ragtag in Columbia.
Agree, this would be awesome. Tivoli is great but needs to be updated, and KC needs a quality art-house theater.

Re: Westport Terrace at Manor Square

Disappointing to hear that Gould Evans might move into 4200 Pennsylvania (stone building). Was really looking forward to that being renovated and activated as retail space. 5th and Grand would have been awesome. Westport needs more active development along it's fringes, including east of Broadway an...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I mean I actually miss Bruce Smith Drugs on the corner of 47th/Broadway (what little I remember of it). It was a nice neighborhood amenity, and right-sized for the district. :D The plaza is just so car centric, I find it funny people think adding amenities like 4 blocks away will fix everything. It ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Agreed with midtowncat that the tenant change has been a net loss over recent years.

Need to bring in some modern (Zara/Uniqlo) and higher-end (lux brands, mid-tier stuff a la Cole-Haan etc.) retail tenants to re-establish itself as the premier shopping destination (or one of them) in the metro.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

What amazes me is that there are so many people on this forum that have a better handle on current retail trends than Taubman and Macerich. Who would have guessed? I know. This makes me a first class prick. I think the sentiment of some posters here, and I would count myself among them, is that for...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I think reports of the plaza's demise on this site are greatly exaggerated. Not that the recent tenant changes don't concern me. There is brunch (Eden Alley my fave - Saturday only), there is nightlife (O'Dowd's, Granfalloon, Parkway, etc.), there is a ton of residential within a few blocks of the c...

Re: 1800 Walnut

I was able to confirm that BMcD has an equity stake but are keeping a low profile. Design work is progressing. Also saw other renderings which show good street interaction and it includes a rooftop pool and amenity space.
Good info, thanks. Really looking forward to additional renderings.

Re: KC Star building redevelopment

A food hall ultimately is just a casual restaurant. Crossroads can support more casual restaurants. So happy Vince decided to go public with the details. I knew you all would be excited! True enough. But, give me this instead - http://www.tulsaboxyard.com/ Mix of food concepts, retail, services. Pl...

Glad you're making it back Warwick. Nothing wrong with a few rust belt detours (oh how I love Cincy!). There have been a lot of positive changes in the last 3 years or so, which are especially obvious downtown, from City Market to Crossroads. Utilize the streetcar! Stockyards Brewing is definitely w...

Re: KC Star building redevelopment

Agree with Chrizow. If this was a retail center, I would be absolutely ecstatic - and this is good location for it with the provided parking and visibility. Not sure that we need or can support another large food-based marketplace. Or at least I would prefer any such development to piggyback on the ...

Yeah, I've got to think when you're inclusive of Mexico and Canada, for KC to host any game at all would be a major coup. And not likely.

Re: Fixing the KC Zoo (ongoing)

Is there any official confirmation of the $100m aquarium project? I haven't seen or heard anything aside from this thread. While I certainly welcome the news, and I'm happy to see the zoo continuing to invest in large scale projects, as befits a metro tourism anchor, I have to say I would rather see...
