Re: Bike Lanes

39th is already too narrow for both traffic and parking in several locations west of Southwest Trafficway. In a couple of locations buses wait for oncoming traffic to clear before proceeding. Parking needs removed/reduced then you have room to widen the lanes and add bike lanes.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Sorta surprised, but not really. Last time I was in there, maybe a year ago, place was pretty dated. Found a couple pair of dress shoes I liked, but none in my size. Bummer though. I went in to buy some Birkenstocks a couple of years ago and the salesman was really shitty about it. He said his boss...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Wish people got this riled up for all the laws that are being violated around this city for decades that actually make pedestrian life unsafe.... I do, but there's not a thread about people throwing cigarette butts on the ground or cops using no parking zones for non-police business, etc... Some of...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I'd love to see some data to prove out this irrational anger of scooters.... But in my experience I'd bet anything it doesn't exist... This is a lot of anger for nothing. Here's some data for you. IT IS ILLEGAL. It's not like saying people wearing hats backwards makes me angry "you kids get off my ...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Segway tours seem to not illicit such anger.... Guess it's just the sheer number of scooters (and we haven't got started yet) I've never seen any segway tours other than maybe once on the shared usage path in Mill Creek Park. I didn't know it was still a thing. If I saw them ripping down the sidewa...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I'm beginning to wonder what percentage of these things get used legally. I would say for every legal operation I see probably five illegal operations on average. Today... In the time I've been back downtown/crossroads from work day. I've seen... Group of four riding on sidewalk down SWB between Bro...

Re: OFFICIAL: Penn Valley Park (Ideas+redeveloment)

Why does the area under the control tower at KCI (a place where no human hangs out) appear more scenic and inviting than most parts of Penn Valley Park? Because FAA regulations prohibit homeless people from living in the bushes near the tower? That being said, as long as the city/parks dept/police ...

Re: Google Maps just did another satellite view update for KC

Desktop does show it too, but you have to disable 3D (which they recently changed to the "Globe" icon in the settings.) The 3D imagery is so old it shows the earliest stages of One Light. Thanks for the tip on disabling stupid 3d mode, couldn't find where they moved the setting to on desktop versio...

Only on mobile tho. Full desktop site still shows one light as a brown pit, My building(1914 Main) is still a surface lot.

Riders need to follow existing rules for bikes, for now (no riding on sidewalks in business districts, honor all traffic control, helmet not required).
So, since currently NOT enforced for bicycles, it will continue to be a problem only now the menace is motorized...

Sort of offtopic of the thread but, I feel confident biking down Grand and Main, but prefer to use Walnut.

Re: Downtown needs larger police presence

There was a cop hanging around the Union Station streetcar stop on July 4 in the morning. I gathered she'd gotten off the streetcar and was perhaps hanging on the platform waiting for the next one. That would be off-duty PD. Is this some sort of official streetcar thing? Last night I noticed that t...

Re: Bike Lanes

I've been down Armour a couple of times since last week and noticed the parked cars mostly within the lines. A few hanging over but not totally obstructing. I'm surprised everyone has done so well considering the lack of signage.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I catch the bus at 19th and Grand in the mornings. There's been a lot of activity in the 1834 Grand/Royal Squirrel location in the last few weeks.
Workers with hard hats and headlamps inside in the mornings. Looks to be mostly empty inside when I peeked inside the other day.
