Re: Where to live in the metro

Obviously it depends on the school.  Catholic schools will be in the $6-9k range.  Could even be less, but I think that's about average for the metro.  Depends on grade level, church membership, and multi-child discount.  I know that St. Thomas Aquinas is $7500-8500 depending on whether you're a par...

Re: Where to live in the metro

They might want to look at what private schools here cost before deciding entirely against it.  It's going to be significantly cheaper here than it is in SF and that could make the decision easier for them regarding where they want to live.  Although, 3 kids is still going to be a chunk of change.  ...

Re: Sprint sale rumors again

AT&T just seems like way too big of a company for me, they seem like the type of company that will raise my rates if i farted.  My Bill has never gone up with T Mobile in the 11 years i've had them, the customer service has been outstanding, coverage has been great and I know all of that will b...

Re: Teadrops goes into H&R Block Building

Someone told me they went on a Saturday night and they were open...guess they open when there's something at the Rep.  Would be nice if they advertised this.  I think it's pretty sad that there aren't any coffee/tea places open after 6pm.  Although, I just discovered that Starbucks in Crown Plaza is...

Re: Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange

Finally went here last night in an effort to expose my 23 year old cousin to food more complex than Chipotle.  She was extremely skeptical, but ended up enjoying everything.  We started with the Carne Crudo, to which she frantically whispered after it was delivered, "It's not cooked!!"  Sh...

Re: Restaurants you ate out at as a kid

Wow, this thread brings back a lot of memories. Italian Gardens - downtown.  This was our go-to place for special occasions like birthdays. Swensen's Ice Cream on the Plaza and Metcalf South Mall.  At least, I think it was called Swensen's.  :?  I just remember going as a kid and they put crispy coo...

Re: Rooftop Park Opens Above Cosentinos

Wow...5 awesome months to enjoy the park.  Now it'll probably be closed for at least 5 months.  I have some neighbor kids who are very disappointed that they won't be able to go up there this winter and play in the snow.  I've never heard of a park closing for the winter.  Dumb.

Re: Rooftop Park Opens Above Cosentinos

No, it doesn't make sense.  The only reasons I could think of are 1) safety issues with snow and ice, and 2) they don't want people walking on the dormant grass up there since it's still fairly new.  If it's the snow and ice, I would think it'd be pretty easy to just keep it locked if there was actu...

Re: P&L District: 12th & Main Site Proposal

For anyone interested in the future, I finally go ahold of someone at Cordish about renting the green roof and they do, indeed, rent it out for private events for $3,000.  They also allow tents and bands/DJs up there.  I guess since it's managed by Cordish and not the city, and it's part of the P&am...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

I would LOVE for a Houlihan's to come downtown.  If you check in on Foursquare and show them your phone, they have special deals, too.  Join their HQ online club and you get all kinds of stuff for free and opportunities to try out new menu items and give feedback before everyone else.

Re: The Jones Ultra Pool

Could be.  Like I said, I'm not sure how reliable the info is and it was just a rumor.  But I do think it's odd they they left all their stuff out and it's wide open for anyone to just walk in and take it if they want.

Re: The Jones Ultra Pool

I heard a rumor that the Jones pool is finished and bankrupt.  Don't know how reliable the info is, but they do seem to have abandoned everything up there.  If you go to the green roof, the door to the Jones is wide open and the place looks kind of trashed.  Of course, I've never been there so it co...

Re: P&L District: 12th & Main Site Proposal

Crazy on the 909 rooftop.... I used to live there and there were always non residents hosting events there... I know the management pretty well, if you want me to make a request of them let me know.  That would be awesome!  We're waiting to see on the Terrace at Grand, but I just might take you up ...

Re: P&L District: 12th & Main Site Proposal

Yeah, that's a nice space.  She really wanted a grassy roof, but I think I might have her talked into Terrace on Grand.  I never did hear back from anyone about the Green Roof.  I emailed and called the KCMO parks department but no response.  Maybe they don't manage it?

Apparently you can't rent that unless you're a resident.  At least that's what they told me today.

Does anyone know if it's possible to rent the green roof for events?  Who manages the park, the city or Cordish?

Re: AMC coming to Empire, Midland to be restored...

Cinema Suite tickets just went up to $30.  Still $10 for the movie but now you get a $20 voucher for food and drinks instead of $15.

Re: Insurance-free Dentists

By the way, revisiting this topic as I'm hoping to schedule something and this was the dentist that I was going to... and the experience I had. Is there some kind of way to file an ethics complaint against them? The doctor I was seeing, Dr. DeLaurent, moved to his own practice up by Harrah's. I wen...
