Nordstrom Rack

I was back in town today and found out that a Nordstrom Rack will going up in Lenexa, at Orchard Corners SC across Quiver.  Probably where Circuit City used to by.  I couldn't find any record of previous posts.

Re: Quivira 95 Shops

SteinMart has moved to the vacant Linens N Things in the strip mall on the SW corner of 95th and Quivera.  The old SteinMart will be demolished for new development.  It was apx. 65k s.f. hardly the size for an IKEA.  SteinMart has wanted out of the old building (formerly Shepler's Western Wear) the ...

Re: Boulevard Beer Now Available in...

So nice to drive back to Fort Worth and not have to lug cases of Boulevard back!  Spoke to one of the sales guys at Goody Goody Liquor on Camp Bowie Blvd. in FW and he said it is really selling.  So glad to have it here.

Manhattan KS chosen for new biodefense lab

It looks like Manhattan KS will be the new site for the Dept. of Homeland Security's 450 million dollar biodefense lab.  A good boost for their economy, just hope nothing leaks out!

The Plaza survived the Great Depression, I am certain it will survive this economic slump.

It looks like Sprint's stock mad a historic slump today.  It actually dropped below $2.00 a share today.
I think some years ago when I worked there it was around $74.00.
Another dollar drop, it may be taken off the exchange.

Re: From Johnson's County Gazette

The only recent news I have heard on The Great Mall is that their owners, Glimcher Realty Trust, is planning to close on the sale of the mall in December of this year.  The unamed buyers have only come up with ten percent of the capital needed.  In the current economic conditions, I feel that the ma...

Re: Election 2008

So a far right evangelical, who happens to be non-white (East Indian), is the hope of the party? How about jettison the evangelicals altogether? Hand the Pat Robertson, Phylis Schlafly types over to the Constitution Party (read their platform they'd fit) and draw people of all colors back into the ...

Re: New AMC "test concept" Theaters in Olathe.

My daughter and I went there this weekend to see "W".  I didn't eat, but she did.  The food looked good.  I thought it was nice although I only had a drink.
I've been to a place a lot like it in TX (Alamo Drafthouse).

Re: san francisco advice.

If you get a chance to shop, one if my favorite places is Gump's on Post St. between Union Square and Crocker Galleria.  Mostly home decor things, a lot of stuff in my home is from there.  Definately worth a peek if you in the area.

Re: Borders/Barnes and Noble?

I think one downtown wouldn't touch the plaza's business. More people come with more amenities like bookstores I think that another B&N or similar bookstore would not make a negative impact on each other to downtown or The Plaza.  As mentioned by TK, Fort Worth has a B&N downtown and anothe...

I've had a VM credit card for several years.  Another good thing about it is that you can get free gift wrap and free shipping on all domestic shipments.
Their customer service is fantastic also.

Re: Coming Soon

It's very popular here in Texas.  It is "fast food BBQ", but pretty good.  Although it may have some convincing for KC tastes.
I still prefer Sonny Bryans in Dallas or Angelo's and Railhead in FTW.
It is still no comparison to Jackstack IMHO.

Re: Paciugo's Gelato, coming this fall

Gelato is different than ice cream.  The process uses less butterfat and churned less to allow less air to the dessert.  True it is a frozen dairy confection, and I suppose to some there is not a difference in ice cream from a Dairy Queen cone to a gelato.  No difference than an espresso being the s...

Re: OKC: Devon Tower, new tallest announced today

I was in OKC yesterday, a lot of development seems to be going on there and in Norman.
This is quite an impressive building.  It will be taller than the tallest in Dallas (BOA Tower) four feet, but taller!
Anxious to see it begin to rise out of OKCs skyline.

Re: Dismantling of Great Mall (ongoing)

I don't see a future for the Great Mall as it stands.  It surprises me that La Quinta built a new hotel on their perimeters.  I understand that a lot of it's business is related to the adjacent hospital.  Medical offices has been the only development on that part of 151st lately.  Perhaps it could b...
