Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

Great looking renderings. Would be great if later phases build in even greater residential density if the demand is there. That kayak launch is a nice touch.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Mayor Lucas says he believes a deal to purchase the Plaza will still happen and recent events, including the Shake Shack shooting, haven't left the prospective buyers with cold feet. Acknowledges there may be some real estate closing issues, but nothing suggesting HPVP is no longer interested in thi...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Kansas City Week in Review interviewed Mayor Lucas on Friday: https://flatlandkc.org/news-issues/nicks-picks-earth-day-nfl-draft-and-cicadas/ Snippets: Walking back from statements by Brian Platt Mayor Lucas says focus moving forward isn't necessarily to avoid a vote, but supporting the teams withou...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Can agree this discussion about Jill Cockson has gotten petty, cringe, and personal. Can there be a separate thread for discussions about citizen influencers of KC? I understand anytime there is a vote there will be so called winners and losers, but the stadium vote seems to have driven people to ex...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

In an interview on KCUR Tara Raghuveer said KCT wasn't necessarily against an East Village location. Also, you would think it would be in the Royals best interests if they're going to ask the city for incentives to replace that affordable housing. I'd even say they should replace and add additional...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

All that sounds nice, but that leaves the elephant in the room: the Federal Government. Unless that vacate the building at 9th and Locust (eliminating their usage of the garage at 10th and Cherry) and they hire more security guards for the Bolling Federal Building, then the stadium is a non-starter...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

East Village is worse than Crossroads because you’re evicting residents of two affordable housing buildings, need to vacate many more streets, and have to contend with the Feds. If you think KCTenants was pissed about crossroads, you should see them if East Village was brought up. Easily overcome b...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

The bus system and transit is a whole nother bunch of bananas. There are fed laws and fair free. I continue to think the best solution is give the chiefs TSC and the royals go to east village with an actual neighborhood built around. Let's call that the mythical 1 billion they were going to invest ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Since most of us will be waiting for a while for some actual news, I'm going to throw out a wild stadium site. I think you could squeeze a stadium in north of 43rd and Broadway Blvd. Westport would be the entertainment district. It's a couple blocks to the streetcar. Far enough from Plaza NIMBYs (y...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Build it up closer to Grand than their initial vision. Cut the width of Oak in half and eliminate on street parking. It’ll fit, but barely. Would have to be the smallest form factor of any MLB stadium, maybe ever? What's the smallest now? Target Field? Didn't Populous have to fit that one into a ti...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

It really does feel like overall the Chiefs never really gave a shit whether this happens or not, and it’s really just been about the Royals only the whole time. I've seen the comments that say the Chiefs wanted this vote on the ballot this year while Parson's was still in office. Could this explai...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Has there been any conversations on this forum about the bluff/business center area southwest of downtown adjacent to SW Blvd? Seems like a great place for a football stadium. The Chiefs could put the training facility/team offices in "KS", and opportunities for commercial and retail real ...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Donovan says these renovations won't start until after the World Cup modifications. Hoping to have proposed renovations done by 2030, or 2031. Kinda sounds like they accelerated announcing this plan to placate the Royals timeline. When asked why no entertainment options proposed outside the stadium,...

Glad to see they're finally improving that horrible bottleneck of a bridge to Lot L. Has been horrible access for decades, mostly after games.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

It’s not blanket opposition to development, it’s opposition to the home plat entrance essentially at the door step, with 20k avg attendance 81 days a year, at two facilities with skeleton crews for security. Again, not the primary driver to the XR preference over EV, but it was definitely a factor....

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Color me skeptical on the Feds shut this down narrative that is now bubbling up. We all know the Feds can present obstacles to get projects to completion, but just like the FAA there are exceptions given all the time. I mean, in Chicago the Federal Building and GSA building are located in the Loop ...
