Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Build it up closer to Grand than their initial vision. Cut the width of Oak in half and eliminate on street parking. It’ll fit, but barely. Would have to be the smallest form factor of any MLB stadium, maybe ever? What's the smallest now? Target Field? Didn't Populous have to fit that one into a ti...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

It really does feel like overall the Chiefs never really gave a shit whether this happens or not, and it’s really just been about the Royals only the whole time. I've seen the comments that say the Chiefs wanted this vote on the ballot this year while Parson's was still in office. Could this explai...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Had a friend who was at a mayor James talk on the stadiums today. I asked them to ask or listen for oak street specifically and anything else they didn't they they had heard before. Similar to a post above he said populous is optimistic of keeping oak from being totally vacated. Excited to hear tha...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Has there been any conversations on this forum about the bluff/business center area southwest of downtown adjacent to SW Blvd? Seems like a great place for a football stadium. The Chiefs could put the training facility/team offices in "KS", and opportunities for commercial and retail real ...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Donovan says these renovations won't start until after the World Cup modifications. Hoping to have proposed renovations done by 2030, or 2031. Kinda sounds like they accelerated announcing this plan to placate the Royals timeline. When asked why no entertainment options proposed outside the stadium,...

Glad to see they're finally improving that horrible bottleneck of a bridge to Lot L. Has been horrible access for decades, mostly after games.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

It’s not blanket opposition to development, it’s opposition to the home plat entrance essentially at the door step, with 20k avg attendance 81 days a year, at two facilities with skeleton crews for security. Again, not the primary driver to the XR preference over EV, but it was definitely a factor....

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Color me skeptical on the Feds shut this down narrative that is now bubbling up. We all know the Feds can present obstacles to get projects to completion, but just like the FAA there are exceptions given all the time. I mean, in Chicago the Federal Building and GSA building are located in the Loop ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

There appeared to be confirmation of Oak's closure at the stadium announcement. When asked about access to the stadium for people commuting from eastern Jackson Co. with Oak being closed, the Royals infrastructure(?) rep replied their thinking was people from that part of the county would come up 71...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

In a city scarred by tear downs, we're advocating tearing down more existing buildings? I'd love to see breakdown of every baseball stadium in the country with surface/structured parking highlighted in the surrounds. I'd bet any proposed garage in EC would be convention center size. See the parking ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Don't get me wrong, I think the EV site is fine if that is what is chosen. I just don't think anything will be built around it. It will just be the stadium and maybe a very small retail development similar to what cordish built near Bush stadium, but smaller. And I don't ever see Modot properly cle...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Discussion of another site that was previously eliminated is just turning off lots of perspective voters that are already "iffy" on the whole issue of stadium replacement and public financing. This. I've gone from they need to get their marketing and message out to the public on the benef...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

From Clark Hunt's press conference yesterday: The Royals are eyeing a 40-year lease agreement, but the Chiefs would prefer another 25-year lease renewal if they stay put at the current Arrowhead. “If the Royals do decide to stay in Jackson County, that’s going to be an issue that we’ve got to resolv...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

From my perspective, everything about the process thus far says the Royals want to be downtown. They're dancing with Clay County because Jackson County hasn't exactly rolled out the red carpet (and committed to opening the wallet), but EV is their preferred site. They talk about complementing P&...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

“The crowded nature of things in an airport has always made me uncomfortable, particularly in a less modern one,” Dr. Fauci said. “People are literally nose to nose waiting to get on the plane.” He said new terminals needed to allow enough space for people to spread out, offer high-efficiency parti...

Re: Companies moving downtown

I wish W&R would build their own building, since it would give us more a sense that they intend to stay downtown. I worry that they are just going to rent until their incentives expire, and then go incentive shopping again. I also raised an eyebrow at their plan for a 15 year lease. I don't nec...

Re: Companies moving downtown

Does anyone have a list of downtown's biggest employers? Like top 25 or maybe top 15?

I'm interested in knowing where Waddell and 1000+ employees would rank on the list. Are we talking top 5 employer in the greater downtown area?
