Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

I mean let's talk about the elephant in the room too. Cordish got a sweetheart development deal way back when and things haven't always been lovely between downtown and cordish. I think they have the reputation for thinking they can do whatever they want to and people should just be happy they're a...

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

The problem isn't really cordish, but the city being actively awful at enforcing codes. I don't blame developers for taking the cheapest way out. I've complained for a year about the old federal reserve being a rat and pigeon infested shit hole. Nothing ever happens. Did you say "shithole"...

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

How about the structural work being done to the Andrews McNeil building?! Slowest project ever and has caused some issues. At least they now have scaffolding in place so the sidewalks are available. I feel terrible for the guy who leased the space across the street to put in a picklemans. I really h...

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

We can’t expect a developer to spend an additional 3-5 million dollars just to keep a single lane of traffic open on secondary road. Not to mention safety is a serious topic. It all goes hand in hand, the streetcar isn’t a reality without the popularity and resurgence of downtown. Downtown wouldn’t ...

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

And, I’ve been to NYC, Chicago and L.A. all within the last 18 months as part of research for these residential towers. All those cities have street and or lane closures around active construction sites.

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

Something worth having is rarely convenient. LOL, oh goodness....Cordish's decisions aren't above reproach. They don't need lanes of traffic to build a 15 story building. That comment applies to damn near everything in life. I find it comical we are freaking complaining about the inconveniences and...

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

If you can come up with a better option to place a crane capable of building a 25-30 floor high rise, do tell so we can all get rich. You don't need to block the sidewalks and a driving lane of two different streets in order to install a single crane. And for that matter, cranes can be installed wi...

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

The district never shuts down Truman, unless it's construction related. between sprint center loading and constant construction, westbound truman has become pretty useless. the temporary is permanent. There wouldn’t be a streetcar without the sprint center. You’re right, growing pains suck and Trum...

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

The district never shuts down Truman, unless it's construction related. The other closures are always going to happen because pedestrian safety is priority number 1. Not to mention, several events/festivals are held on the streets. Urbana, Family Fun Days, Beer Fest, Pig and Swig and the list goes o...

They happen so often, I'm not sure. The district did just partner with Uber which is nice because they'll be directed to specific drop off/pick up points.

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

Do we think there would be heavy pushback from people coming downtown for events who are not regular downtown folks by closing main? People from the suburbs already think downtown is “inconvenient” and that parking is a nightmare. We all know that’s not true, they don’t. As long as closure is coupl...

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

Cordish wouldn’t care. Already shut down 14th between grand and main for most concerts and Grand for Sprint Center shows. As long as people can access the paid parking garages, mains not a big deal.

Confirmed they are in the final stages on a ground up and complete makeover of the website which will include better maps and directional info. Here’s what they typically send out for every event. A few reminders for tonight's show: TICKETS: are $20 and available to purchase at the door. GETTING HER...

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

Speaking of directions...maybe p&l can update their own. Reading just now it talks nothing of anything but driving to the district. Additionally some directions could be updated to not send people down the busiest streets. Midland's site does mention RideKC buses (old link) but no mention of st...

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

It makes sense for customers why it's there. How about reverse the valet flow? Enter from walnut, valets can then exit onto main and into garage. Queue ends up on walnut from two directions. Completely agree. That's been done a few times, I will bring it back up. Biggest problem down here imho is l...

Re: Fixing p&l traffic backups

I'm following.... I agree with enforcing already in place rules. The cars parked outside of T-mobile and Chambers lofts are a constant issue. I've nearly been in fist fights telling people they can't park/drive on a road that's closed via city permit. They don't care and want to be argumentative. It...

Re: Three Light

I would be happy if people would stop dropping their significant others off in front of HnR Block on Main and then decide to roll down the passenger window to have a quick chat/goodbye/have a great day bullshit talk. [-o< Yes! Same issue on the walnut side with people dropping off in the crosswalk.
