Walking the dog off leash - this isn't your f+++ing farm!

Cleaning the car by dumping its contents on to the street.

Indeed. Moe's is sorely missed. It had the closest to the real deal Chicago-style Italian beef sandwich in KC. Tower Tavern's version is ok.

Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park

Replacement trees were planted along the mall this spring. They have next to no root structure, and, as a result, blow out of the ground on windy days. They have been staked and still blow over. A good number are already dead. I don't understand why the Memorial is not better maintained. Is money th...

Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park

I suspect this was done to raise awareness.

Mission accomplished.

We are now aware the culprits are assholes.

Re: Troost developments

I suspect (and this is true all over the city) that a lot of people don't actually want anything to change. They're fine with the used car lots and abandoned buildings. A new event space or an apartment building only have a negative potential because adjacent neighbors don't directly gain anything ...

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

First Lutfi's on Main stopped serving breakfast and now Cafe Attitude is closing. That leaves me only Kitty's Cafe. As good as Kitty's breakfast sandwiches are, one a week is my max.

Re: Acme Cleaning/Luzier Cosmetics Reuse Suggestions

I'm excited about this renovation and what it may spark for that corner of the neighborhood. However, I wonder what type of renter would like to look out their beautiful big window to this: https://goo.gl/foyKm9.

Re: Troost developments

Kansas City needs to move forward.

I live next to Troost and have taken the Troost bus enough that everyone who waits at those bus stops and rides those buses wants the neighborhoods around those bus stops to be better.

Re: Troost developments

This is a good answer, and there is a lot to digest within it. The first is about the market. The U.S. is not a free market economy. We decided that after the Great Depression. And Kansas City development is not a free market economy either. Delayed property tax payments is one of them.

Re: Troost developments

Thanks for the link to the Denver Post editorial. First, they make the mistake of repeating the Kansas City Star data-less assertion that Kansas City is experiencing an affordable housing "crisis." But, more importantly, they quote the editorial writer as saying, “I used that term because it’s one p...

Re: Troost developments

The discussion that development along the Troost corridor is a take away from the pie is ridiculous. Development of vacant buildings and land contribute to the pie that we can all eat from.

Re: Plaza Heights Development (Westport Today Foundation)

Well researched. If I understand correctly all the houses proposed to be demolished are rental properties owned by a St. Luke's Hospital development division and were all donated to the development division. The design of the new housing seems to be nice. I don't understand the goal - demolish well ...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

I'm fine with the design, and don't think it's distracting, and may even be complementary. But have to haha at the "squinting test" - whatever that means. I'm more eager to see contemporary design for the corners at Armour and Troost. I think that's the right the approach.
