Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I was able to visit the KC Lime Hub and was overall very surprised at how the operation is ran. The below images show the amount of Limes they capture in a regular night vs. us Juicers (and shows how easy it is to steal one down there...) and how many damaged ones we have already. The one I dropped ...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Here is an article about the new Bird scooters. Sounds like they aren't rolling those out in KC (or anywhere yet), but maybe some have made their way? https://techcrunch.com/2018/10/04/bird-unveils-custom-electric-scooters-and-delivery They are mostly on the West coast and are being rolled out else...

Rougher ride with the solid tires like lime?
Pretty much the same in every way. In a way it felt a little better, but that may be from them having the battery in a different location and other things.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I'm in San Antonio today, where Bird and Lime have been for about six months. Anecdotally, locals say usage has dropped off but there are a LOT of them downtown. Lots of sidewalk riding -- way more than KC -- which I attribute to lots of one-way streets and most of them are pavers that make for a v...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Looks like the Segway built Lime scooters have a 35 mile range instead of 23. If these newer scooters can last a day or two on one charge as well as replaceable batteries in field, can see why they'd want to leave out overnight. https://techcrunch.com/2018/05/01/lime-partners-with-segway-to-build-e...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Lime 2.0's are out and about! I rode one today and the speedo is a nice touch. It honestly felt a little wobblier than a Bird, and accelerates slower I feel, but overall a nice rider experience. The back wheel is also used as a step-on brake in addition to your handle, so step on the wheel cover to ...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I have warned everyone that overnight scooters are a very real possibility. Between larger batteries and batteries that can be swapped in the field, it's a no-brainer. Companies need to also respond with devices that have better lighting and turn signals. This new model all of the above: https://el...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Version 2.0 of the Lime-S will be deployed when the city approves additional scooters (still at 250). It is manufactured by Segway and has the speedometer on the top! Bird is apparently testing out leaving higher charged scooters out on the streets overnight and unavailable to capture. This would ap...

Or 9 with bird now? Your time has to be worth something.... I actually signed up to be a lime charger and am doing one tonight... I can't imagine wrangling more than 1 without a car.... This one just happened to be I'm within a block of me.... Ride one and use the other two for stability 8) Unfortu...

Wow... It's not even worth it for 5 bucks.....
If you're like me and live downtown it actually is. I barely drove to pick up scooters and could stack 3 on each other so there's $15 for around 40 cents in electricity. So it's quite profitable.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Hopefully you will not notice anything different, but Bird rolled out a new pricing structure for it's chargers lowering the amount down to $3 a scooter from $5. Huuuuge amounts of chargers are obviously not happy with this move, so I guess we will see over the next few days if scooters are left en ...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

^Bird isn't placing morning nests on Plaza. They took away the redzone but maybe with agreement they wouldn't plant nests there. Hopefully Lime covers some gaps rather than focus (as much) on same commercial stretches. Is likely most regulars will have accts for both services, not avoid one. I'm we...

Article on Bird mechanics, pays $15 per repair. https://therideshareguy.com/how-to-become-bird-mechanic/ The types of repairs you will do as a Bird Mechanic depend. Have I missed anything? I haven't seen a 2nd crane go up this week from afar, unless it's a super short one?
Must be delayed. The base is still there waiting on the tower.
